Picture hanging kit

Use a wall anchor if your mask is large and heavy and you’re not drilling into a stud.

Warning

Do not hammer thumb screws directly into your mask as this may cause the wood to split. Only tap lightly on the thumb screws with a hammer if you are unable to start the guide hole by just twisting the screws by hand.

Hanging an African tribal mask is an easy way to add interest, color and dimension to any home decor. African tribal masks come in a variety of sizes and have an elongated shape with points on either end. African tribal masks are made of wood and are convex to the wall or flat surface. This makes it easy to hang without any of the wire or hardware showing. Use several African tribal masks of varying sizes together to make a wall grouping or pair with other types of African art for added appeal.

Purchase a picture hanging kit at your local home supply store, craft store or home interior store. Make sure your picture hanging kit includes both heavy and light gauge wire, since African tribal masks can vary in weight.

Turn your African tribal mask over and measure about one-third the size of the mask from the top. Mark each side with a pencil.

Use the thumb screws included in your kit; mark a guide hole on either side where you marked the mask with the pencil. Tap lightly on the thumb screw with a hammer to start the thumb screw.

Twist the thumb screws into the marked holes until tightened; the thumb screw heads should be in a vertical position.

Measure enough of the appropriate hanging wire so that the wire stretches from one thumb screw to the other, but is loose enough to have a 1- to 2-inch give when pulled up toward the top of the mask. String the wire to the thumb screws and use the pliers to twist any leftover wire around itself on one end so it’s not sticking out.

Mark the spot on the wall where you want the very top of the mask to rest after hanging. Measure down from the top of the mask to the point where the wire stretches taut. Use this measurement and draw a straight line from the top point on the wall and mark the spot to place the hook. Nail the hook into the wall and hang your mask.

Historically, masks in Venice concealed identities and allowed the wearers to cross social barriers. A staple of the Mardi Gras Carnival, one of this vibrant Italian city’s attractions that was revived in the 1970s after a hiatus of more than 100 years. All styles of Venetian masks work well for wall art, adding whimsy and an eclectic world-travel vibe to your decor. The method for display depends on your available wall space and the styles of masks you have available.

Prepare

Choose a wall with enough space to hang the Venetian masks so the center of the group will be at eye level. An average eye level is 60 inches from the floor. A wall in a den, great room, entry or stairway works well for a Venetian mask display. For masks viewed mainly from seats, in a dining room or living room, display the group lower. For example, center the group between the top of a sofa or sideboard and the ceiling. Check each Venetian mask for ribbons attached to the sides for wearing or a hook or eye on the back for displaying them on the wall.

Layout

Make the most elaborate masks central to the arrangement. For example, use three standout masks in the center of each third of the wall for a mask display that will cover most of the wall. Surround each elaborate mask with masks that go with its colors or style, such as a group of comedy masks or a group of masks that feature the color red. Lay out the masks on butcher paper. Trace the desired placements and then hold the paper to the wall and poke a pencil through the paper to mark the wall at the top of each mask tracing.

Hang the Display

If a Venetian mask has ties for wearing it or hardware on the back, it’s ready to hang. Tie the mask ribbons together and make a double knot. Measure from the top of the mask to the center of the tie held taut. Use this measurement to mark the picture hook position below the mark you made on the wall for that mask from the butcher paper tracing. Install the picture hook and use the tie to hang the mask. If the mask has hardware on the back, measure from the top of the mask to the hook or eye and use this measurement for the picture hook placement.

Considerations

For a small collection of masks, display them in odd numbers. For example, create two groups of three Venetian masks positioned in a triangle shape or a group of five with three half masks in a row with two full masks above them. Another option is to use one mask as an accent piece in a different room from a group display. Fishing line strung through the eye holes from the back works well to hang a Venetian mask that doesn’t have ties or hardware. Make a loop with the fishing line long enough to hang on a picture hook behind the mask’s forehead. Avoid displaying the masks on a wall exposed to direct sunlight, such as across from a south-facing window. Sunlight can fade the masks.

  • Consider leaving the rest of the wall bare so the masks can really stand out.
  • You can also stagger the masks, which looks especially nice if you have an odd number. For example, you might line them up so you have 3 on top and 2 on bottom, all spaced evenly.

  • It can help make the collection look more cohesive if you hang a mask at each of the 4 corners of the display. However, you don’t necessarily have to stay inside those 4 corners—it’s fine if some of the masks go a little outside the imaginary line running from corner to corner.
  • It’s best to stick to a similar style of masks for your collection—like using all Tiki, African, Mardi Gras, or movie-monster masks. That way, the display will still feel cohesive even if the masks are very different in size and shape. [6] X Research source

Your entryway may be the space your family utilizes every morning to organize belongings and get ready for the day ahead, but for guests, this room is also a reflection of your lifestyle, giving them a taste of what lies beyond the front door. With that in mind, it’s easy to see why this area of the house needs to be both functional and representative of your home’s overall style.

Curating a functional entryway is easy once you’ve taken stock of the space’s existing features and your family’s organizing needs. Because the entryway, mudroom, or foyer is home to some of our most important everyday belongings—keys, coats, bags, and more often than not, mail that accumulates during the week—getting a rein on clutter is important, as is building in features that will help you corral it.

In any season, having a system for organizing outerwear and shoes is key. Our numbered entryway approach can streamline these items for a busy family on the go, while our take on a drying rack for shoes, the pebble-filled tray, will help prevent messes from being tracked into your living spaces. Once the basics are covered, it’s all about incorporating accessories to further maximize the space, like sleek umbrella organizers, mirrors, and shelving, or even a freestanding clothing rack with baskets for extra storage.

Here, we’re sharing the most functional elements of any entryway or mudroom, including tips and tricks from Kevin Sharkey, executive vice president and executive design director for the Martha Stewart brand. Put these tips to work and you’ll have an entryway that’s both functional and cohesive with the design of the rest of your home.

We just had a little family photo session done, and I’m so excited to figure out some creative ways to display them in our new house! Today, I’m sharing some ideas for how to display family photos in your home in creative and beautiful ways.

How to arrange masks on a wall

A couple of weeks ago, we did a mini family photo session with one of our sweet friends (Austin-area readers, you have to check out Jessica Scott!), and I am more than a little bit obsessed with how they turned out. We know we’ll be using them for Christmas cards and in our annual family photo book, but I’ve already begun racking my brain for different ideas for how we can display them in our new home.

It seems that, as much as we all love our homes and our families, a lot of us tend to kind of lose our creativity when it comes to displaying the photos we take in our homes. I know that in this house, we honestly haven’t put much effort at all into putting up family photos. When we move into our new home next month, I really want change that. I’ve been gathering ideas and I wanted to share a few of my favorites here today – hopefully it’ll inspire all of us to get creative and find a fun way to show off some of our family photos!

How to arrange masks on a wall

7 ways to display family photos

Obviously, the simplest way to display your family photos is to simply toss them in a picture frame and hang it on a wall. But, there are so many different ways to set things up or display them, and I want to get creative about showcasing our photos in the best possible way.

Here are a few of my favorite ideas:

    Display them in a grid

How to arrange masks on a wall

I love a big ol’ grid of photos, and I think a collection of family photos in a grid of frames with mats would be such a pretty display. We’ve got a big wall right in our entry that would be perfect for something like this!

The key with this approach is to choose a beautiful frame, and I really love displays with frames that have an extra large mat with lots of white space. You’ll obviously want all of the frames to be the same, and you’ll want to choose family photos that all have the same feel – with this approach, I’d use all photos from the same photo session! I’m partial to IKEA’s RIBBA frames because they’re just so affordable and so beautiful, but I’ll link a few other options below!

    create an organic gallery wall

How to arrange masks on a wall

Another easy way to display your photos on the wall is with a more organic gallery wall. We did this on the wall going up the stairs at our last house and I loved it!

With this approach, you can be a little looser with the photos and they don’t all need to coordinate as much. You could pull some more posed, professional photos along with some candid shots from your phone, and even some non-family photos as well. This is a great way to display a large collection of art and other objects, and we all know that everyone loves a gallery wall!

    create an interchangeable display

How to arrange masks on a wall

One of my very favorite projects at our old house was this photo display I made with wire and clips where I could swap out the photos anytime I wanted. It made such an impact and we loved looking at the photos all the time. I changed them out every few months and we even had a set of photos we used for the holidays!

There are lots of different ways you could put something like this together, but the bottom line is that an interchangeable photo display is a really fun way to show off some of your family photos and it’ll make you smile every time you see it.

    Hang some giant engineer prints

How to arrange masks on a wall

This is one of my favorite ideas, and I could see us doing something like this in our upstairs game room! I love the slightly whimsical feel the giant prints have, and this is such a great way to show off some favorite photos of the kids.

I think some of the office supply stores that used to print engineer prints for so cheap have stopped, but you should still be able to get this look from a regular photo printing service, and its guaranteed to make such a big impact!

Group your favorite photos on shelves

How to arrange masks on a wall

If you don’t want to deal with setting up an entire gallery wall, you can hang some shelves or picture ledges and display your favorite family photos there.

You can make your own picture ledge or buy some (I’ll link a few below!), or you could just use a regular old shelf with free-standing frames! A collection of two or three shelves full of photos is a great way to really make a statement, and it’s low-commitment, since you can change out the photos for anything else whenever you want!

Group a few small photos in one frame

How to arrange masks on a wall

I love love love this display of photos all grouped in one big frame. It creates such a sweet little scene and is another interchangeable display that is easy to switch up when the mood strikes. You could also create a smaller version of this (like this one right here) that would make such a simple and subtle statement wherever you hang it – I love it in an entryway or a hallway!

    Toss ’em in a bowl

How to arrange masks on a wall

Finally, another favorite approach of mine (and one I’ll probably start doing again once I don’t have a baby who likes to pull all the things out of all the containers) is to just grab all of your favorite printed photos and toss them in a pretty bowl or container. It really tends to draw people in and feels like an invitation to sit and look at the photos for a while, and it makes the entire experience of enjoying your family photos a little more interactive.

Here are a few pretty bowls that would be perfect for displaying your favorite snapshots:

What’s your favorite way to display photos in your home?! I can’t wait to get my hands on our new house so I can use a few of these ideas!

Word Walls: They’ve been around for as long as most of us can remember. I can clearly recall those hot August days, standing on a desk or a chair reaching for the bulletin board hoping there was enough space to staple all 26 letters. who needs xyz anyway?

I loooooveed my word wall. It played a very important role in my classroom and I truly believed I was helping students learn to read and write words. We would learn 5 new words each Monday. During the week we would chant the letter names, frame the words, play games and on Friday I would assess students and we would place the new words on the word wall. As we placed the new word on the word wall, we would listen for the first sound in the word, find that letter and staple the new word on the word wall.

Now, did that process always work? Not exactly. Many times, a word would begin with a letter that didn’t make the sound we heard. For example, listening to the word ‘she’, we heard /sh/, not /s/ or the word ‘know’, we heard /n/ not /k/. The word ‘our’ or ‘hour’? Forget it. I would explain these words were “rule breakers” – we needed to “know them by heart/sight” and not sound them out.

While my word wall was interactive and added to throughout the year, I saw many classrooms with a word wall that was more like wallpaper than a learning tool. I truly believed my word wall and the practice students were engaging in was helping them become strong readers and writers. Little did I know how wrong I was! Asking students to recall how to read and spell a word based on letter names rather than sounds was like asking them to memorize a suggested password. There is nothing to anchor the learning, and that’s not the way our language works.

    What is a Word Wall?

A word wall is organized alphabetically using all 26 letters of the alphabet. We place “sight words” or “high frequency words” (and sometimes even content words) under each letter based on the first letter of each word. We sometimes frame the word, talk about “tall letters, letters that fall” and so on. Sometimes we add to the word wall throughout the year, teaching students to chant words by letter names and other times we just place a bunch of words on the wall at the beginning of the year and we don’t do much with the word wall at all.

When we think about a word wall, it is driven by the teacher’s point of view. As teachers, we know and understand all of the different spellings of sounds, and so we place the words under the letter a word begins with because we can locate the words that way. This isn’t the case for students. If students do memorize a word, they are able to read and spell only that word. The process does not help students learn to read new, unfamiliar words.

Working with word walls is print to speech. We find the print/letter first and then we match the sound. Our language is speech to print. We hear speech sounds before we learn to match the sounds to a particular letter or letter patterns. For example, a child can hear the 2 sounds in the word know (/n/ /o/) before he/she can use 4 letters to spell the word know. This may be why Word Walls are often abandoned in classrooms, taking up space, looking pretty, but not really being used. As Dr. Tracy Weeden said so well, “We have to strategically abandon what’s not working.” – and word walls don’t work.

    Word Wall Sound Wall
Organized A-Z, alphabetical Organized by speech sounds
    Teacher POV Student POV
Print – Speech Speech – Print
    Dependent upon teacher support Independent
Focused on letters Focused on phonemes and articulation
Focused on one word Focused on transfer of skills to multiple words

So, how do we support students learning those tricky words or high frequency words? The answer is Sound Walls. Not only do sound walls support students with learning high frequency words, they support students in retaining and learning to read unfamiliar words on their own. A sound wall does the work of matching our articulation of speech sounds/phonemes to the letters/graphemes that represent those sounds. The English language has 44 speech sounds/phonemes, 26 letters to represent those sounds/phonemes and over 200 different ways to spell those sounds! When we think about the way our learners perceive the words they hear in speech, a sound wall makes sense.

    What is a Sound Wall?

A sound wall supports students by focusing on the articulation of sounds/phones and the various letter/letter patterns that represent the sounds/phonemes in words. This is important because when we hear language, we hear words as whole units. The sounds/phonemes in words are co-articulated. We don’t /s/ /p/ /e/ /k/ in phonemes. Speaking is natural and something we can learn to do by being immersed in language. However, reading is not natural. We need to explicitly teach students to hear the individual phonemes in the words they hear in language. We also need to assist them in producing the individual phonemes in words. Helping students recognize the way their mouth feels and looks when producing sounds will help them connect speech to print.

When we listen for the phonemes in a word, we can use a sound wall to identify the different ways to spell the sounds. For example, the word ‘know’ on a word wall would be placed under the K. However, on a sound wall, a student could listen for the sound /n/, find that sound organized by the articulatory gesture and identify the ways to spell that sound: n, kn. even gn or pn. While those spellings of the sound /n/ may not be as frequent, we are supporting our learners and giving them tools to apply these spelling to new words.

When viewing sound walls you will often find pictures of students’ mouths next to each sound. This helps clue students in to what their tongue and mouth are doing when producing a sound. This is how learners perceive the sounds in the words they hear. They pay attention to the way their mouth feels, looks and acts when producing sounds. This helps them concretize and connect the sounds they hear with the print that represents them.

A sound wall is organized by the place and manner of articulation. You will often see two walls in a classroom. One wall for consonants, supporting students in thinking about the individual sounds they hear in words. The second wall for vowels, visually represented in the shape of a valley to mimic the change in position of our mouths and shift in our jaw when producing the vowel sounds. While we only have 5, sometimes 6 vowel letters, those letters represent 18 vowel sounds. Students are explicitly taught how to hear the different types of sounds, as well as to recognize voiced and unvoiced sounds.

These specifics are keys to helping students connect the phonemic awareness skills to print. This process allows students to navigate a sound wall independently. They can hear the sound, feel it on their mouth and locate the spelling. A sound wall is created from the student point of view rather than the teacher’s. This instructional tool creates opportunities for students to learn many words by transferring the knowledge of sound-grapheme correspondence to many words, rather than just one, as is often the case with word walls.

Face masks have become a normal part of our daily lives as we navigate the COVID-19 pandemic. Just as you wouldn’t leave the house without your keys, phone and wallet, these days you wouldn’t walk out the door without a face covering in tow, too.

By now, we know which materials work well for face masks, and how to properly wear them and wash them. But what should you do with your face coverings when you’re not wearing them?

We asked infectious disease experts to share advice on how to safely store your cloth masks at home.

Designate a clean, dry place to keep your masks.

It could be in a separate drawer, breathable container or bag. Keep them away from other objects you touch frequently, potentially with unwashed hands, Peter Chin-Hong, an infectious diseases doctor and professor of medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, told HuffPost.

“For example, I won’t keep them in my underwear drawer or area where you handle kitchen towels,” he said. “Don’t go nuts about ensuring absolute sterility like if you are in a biosafety laboratory. The most important thing is to keep the clean cloth masks in an area that does not normally see a lot of hand traffic.”

If you have trouble remembering to bring a mask when you leave the house, you may want to keep clean ones near the front door, said Amanda Castel, professor of epidemiology at the George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health. Hang them on hooks by their ear straps so you can just grab one and go.

How to arrange masks on a wall

However you choose to store them, be sure not to mix your clean masks with the dirty ones. Designate another bag or bin for the used ones, perhaps labeling it to avoid confusion. Or you can toss them in the hamper with other dirty laundry.

Consider keeping clean masks separated by person, if possible.

“We focus on COVID, but there are 300 other viruses that cause the common cold,” Chin-Hong said. “It is just good infection control practice. If each member in the household handles their own clean stash, it reduces the risk of fomite t ransmission on potentially unclean hands that can transmit other common respiratory viruses as well.” ( Fomite transmission is where you can get infected from a contaminated surface or object.)

Basically, if one of your kids rifles through the communal mask bag with unwashed hands, you don’t want him contaminating all of the other masks, too. But if keeping facial coverings for your family together in one bin is more manageable for you, that works, too.

“Alternatively, you can keep them in one place but have one household member in charge of distribution using good hand-washing practices prior to handling the masks,” Chin-Hong said.

Castel agreed that storing all of the clean masks together is fine. However, she does not recommend sharing masks with other members of your household.

Carry your mask in a paper bag when you’re on the go.

Don’t just throw it directly into your purse, pocket or backpack where it could get damp, rip or come in contact with contaminated items. Instead, with clean hands, place the mask in a clean paper lunch bag first. (You can also use a plastic Ziploc baggie as a backup.) Then you can toss it into your bag if you’d like.

“Consider carrying it in a small bag that can be closed so it stays clean, dry and does not get damaged,” Castel said. (Though, she said she typically just puts hers on before walking out the door.)

How to arrange masks on a wall

When you pull the mask out to put it on, always handle it by the ear loops or ties (and with clean hands, of course). Avoid touching the inside part of the mask that touches your face, what Chin-Hong refers to as the “inner sanctum.”

If you need to take the mask off temporarily while you’re out — perhaps at a restaurant or between stops while running errands fold the mask in half and place it in the clean baggie for the time being. Some experts recommend folding it so that the inside part that touches your nose and mouth is facing inwards, while others recommend folding it the opposite way with the outside edges in towards each other.

“Wearing a mask is primarily meant to prevent you from infecting someone else, so if you assume [you’re] infectious, then the inside of the mask would be most contaminated. Therefore, it would make sense to fold it so that the inside is touching,” Castel said. “That said, there is also a chance that the outside of the mask has been contaminated by someone else’s droplets who was infectious, in which case you still want to be careful handling the outside of the mask. Regardless, try to keep the mask clean and wash your hands before and after handling it to reduce the risk of transmission.”

Don’t forget to wash your masks frequently.

Some experts say you can re-wear the same cloth mask multiple times in one day, as long as it’s not wet, soiled or torn. Others say you should play it safe and throw a used one in the laundry after each wear and grab a new one if you go out again.

“Simply putting it in the washing machine with the rest of the laundry and washing it in warm water is perfectly fine,” Chin-Hong said. “Dry in direct sunlight or on high heat. If you are washing the mask by hand, make sure you soak the cloth mask in bleach solution for five minutes, then rinse with water.”

You can make the solution with four teaspoons of bleach (use one that contains 5.25% – 8.25% sodium hypochlorite) per quart of room temperature water or one-third of a cup of bleach per gallon of room temperature water, according to the CDC.

Follow our guide to speaker placement if you want to get the very best from every beat of music you listen to.

Tom Davenport spent several years flirting with music production before admitting he preferred writing about technology online. He once performed in a Superbowl commercial, but you’ll never find it online. Tom is a freelance writer and is not an employee of CNET.

Some of you might have the luxury of being able to buy speakers so good they’d be worth passing down to your grandson. Others among you make do with what came packed with your stereo. Either way, there’s one method of improving the sound of any speaker: it’s all about placement.

Musicians and producers pour months of effort into creating their work. So this guide is intended for any self-respecting music fan worth their iTunes collection, who wants every beat to sound as good as the artist intended.

The following makes the assumption that you sit in front of your speakers at a desk and have plenty of room to play with. If not, you’ll still pick up some sound knowledge.

    1. Room length

If your room is a rectangle, the speakers will ideally face the length of the room, so place your desk by the shortest wall.

    2.Think in thirds

Imagine dividing the length of your room by three. Your speakers will sit within the first third of the room and more than 1m from the side walls. We did say you needed some room.

    3. Speaker angles

Music is generally released in stereo, which means the sound is spread between the left and right speakers. Positioning the speakers at a 60-degree angle gives you the best ‘stereo image’ of these sounds. Dust off your old protractor and position the speakers 60 degrees apart. It can help to place a small marker at your listening position and work it out from there.

    4. Space from wall

If you really do have a huge room to work with, pull the speakers away from the wall. There’s a zone between 1m and 2.2m that ideally you want to avoid. If you have a smaller room, try to leave as much space as you can between the wall and the speaker — up to 1m — and do not place them too close to the wall either as the bass doesn’t play well.

    5. Sub woofers

Got a sub? Put it at least 30cm from a corner; don’t place it in the dead centre of a wall.

    6. Speaker height

If you have speaker stands, adjust the height so the speaker is level with your head and above 1.2m. Notice the smaller speaker cone, called a tweeter — this is where the shiny bright parts of the music come out. The highest sounds emanate from the tweeter in a really straight line, so point this at your ears if you want your music to shimmer.

    7. Desktop speakers

If your speakers are on a desk, rest them on some foam, if you have any. This stops your desk becoming a huge bass speaker itself, which seems like a grand idea but really isn’t.

    8. Surround sound

If you have surround sound speakers, place the centre channel exactly in front of you and place the side speakers at a 110-degree angle to the sides, following the same rules as described above. Each speaker should be the same distance from your listening position, forming a circle, as shown in the diagram (right). If you get that right, those overhead helicopters in films will finally sound like they’re flying in a straight line.

    Conclusion

It’s not always easy to implement every step, but the basic rules — like keeping speakers away from corners — will go a long way to making your music and movies sound better.

Previous studies have demonstrated the novel coronavirus can live on certain surfaces, such as plastic or cardboard, for different periods of time. A new study suggests it can live on surgical masks for one week, but it is susceptible to ‘”standard disinfection methods.”

“Strikingly, a detectable level of infectious virus could still be present on the outer layer of a surgical mask on day 7 (∼0·1% of the original inoculum),” researchers wrote in the study published in The Lancet.

The researchers also measured the stability of the virus at different temperatures and on different surfaces, with varying results.

The virus is “sensitive to heat,” according to the researchers, showing stability at 4 degrees Celsius (39.2 degrees Fahrenheit) with an infectious titre (concentration of an antibody) found after 14 days. As the temperature increased to 70 degrees Celsius (158 degrees Fahrenheit), “the time for virus inactivation was reduced to 5 [minutes].”

The researchers did not find any infectious virus on printing and tissue papers after a 3-hour incubation and no infectious virus was spotted on wood and cloth on day 2. However, the virus is slightly more stable on surfaces such as glass and banknotes (no detection after day 4) and stainless steel and plastic (day 7).

“Overall, SARS-CoV-2 can be highly stable in a favorable environment, but it is also susceptible to standard disinfection methods,” the researchers added in the study, published April 2.

The researchers used a number of disinfectants, including different concentrations of household bleach and hand soap.

“This is exactly why it is very important if you are wearing a surgical mask you don’t touch the outside of the mask,” co-author of the new study, Malik Peiris, told the South China Morning Post. “Because you can contaminate your hands, and if you touch your eyes you could be transferring the virus to your eyes.”

A separate study published in March that has not been peer-reviewed found the virus could stay on stainless steel and plastic for anywhere between two and three days.

SARS-CoV-2 is largely a respiratory illness and is widely believed to spread from droplets from coughing or sneezing.

Pictures, mirrors, shelves, lamps, tools, sports equipment — the list of items you can hang on walls is almost endless. To keep them hanging where they belong, you need to choose the proper fastener and install it in the proper way.

Most wall framing is covered with drywall that typically measures 1/2 or 5/8 inch thick. To hang lightweight and medium-weight objects, you need only pierce this covering with a nail or expandable plastic screw anchor. Heavier objects, such as a large mirror, should be supported by hardware that either attaches to the wall framing or clamps securely to the wall surface from behind.

The wooden framing in walls, called studs, are typically spaced 16 inches apart. You can locate studs with an electronic stud finder that detects the nails that hold the wall covering to the studs. If you don’t own this handy device, you can measure 16 inches from a corner of the room and begin knocking the wall with your knuckles. If the wall sounds more solid at a point exactly 16 inches from the corner, there’s a stud there; you’ll most likely find other studs, spaced in increments of 16 inches from the first, along the length of the wall. If you hear a hollow sound at a point 16 inches from the corner, go to the opposite end of the wall, measure 16 inches, and knock. You’ll probably find a stud there, because carpenters always space studs from one end of the wall or the other.

    Hanging Light Objects

To hang most lightweight objects, such as small pictures:

Step 1: Place a small piece of cellophane tape over the spot where the nail will be driven. This prevents the wall’s drywall or plaster from crumbling.

Step 2: Place a picture hanger flat against the wall and drive a nail through the hanger.

To hang medium-weight objects, such as large pictures:

Step 1: Buy plastic or nylon wall anchors made for the size screws you have, and examine the package to find out what size drill bit to use for the holes.

Step 2: Drill a hole in the wall to accommodate the plastic anchor.

Step 3: Tap the anchor all the way in with a hammer.

Step 4: Insert the screw through the item it is to hold, and then turn it into the anchor. The screw will expand the anchor to make it grip the sides of the hole.

    Hanging Heavy Objects

When hanging heavy objects, such as shelves and mirrors, the best device is the expansion anchor, or expansion bolt. This type of fastener comes in different sizes to accommodate differences in wall thickness and in the weight of the things they are to hold.

Once you get the right fastener, here is how to install it:

Step 1: Check the package to see what size drill bit you must use, and then drill a hole in the wall.

Step 2: Lightly tap the fastener in place with a hammer.

Step 3: Turn the slotted bolt clockwise. When you can’t turn it anymore, back it out. The fastener is then secure against the inside of the wall, and you are ready to hang the object.

Step 4: Put the bolt through the object or its hanger, then reinsert the bolt in the expansion anchor.

For very heavy objects, such as cabinets or a bookshelf unit, use toggle bolts. Available in several sizes, toggle bolts require you to drill holes in the wall. Here is how to install them:

Step 1: Drill the proper-size hole.

Step 2: Remove the bolt from the toggle.

Step 3: Put the bolt through the object to be hung, or through its hanger, before you insert it into the wall. (You can’t remove the bolt after the device is in the wall without the toggle falling down behind the wall.) Reinsert the bolt in the toggle.

Step 4: Squeeze together the toggle with your thumb and forefinger and push it into the hole.

Step 5: Hold the object you are hanging right next to the wall as you insert the toggle. When it goes through, pull the bolt back toward you until you feel the toggle open and hit the back of the wall.

Step 6: Turn the bolt clockwise until the hanger or the item itself is flat and secure against the wall.

Now we’ve covered the basics of hanging objects on walls. All that’s left is to pull out your tools and have at it.

How to arrange masks on a wall

Listening to your favorite band or artist while traveling is way different than experiencing them live in action at a music concert. Planning a successful music festiva l is an exhilarating experience in itself and everyone involved would not want to miss it.

Music has a magical way of connecting people from different communities and age groups. If you’re an event presenter or hospitality venue looking to bring the good vibes, here is your 10- step guide to organize a successful concert.

    1. Plan Your Budget

It all starts with the event budgeting and the scale at which you want to organize your concerts. Stick to an event budget template that can be used for all your upcoming concert events. Set up a realistic budget to cover all expenses related to the infrastructure, venue booking, talent buying, and logistics including any contingency.

Ascertain at this point, if you need to generate sponsorship exposure for your even t, especially if it’s a fundraiser event or concert for charity. Track your budget to ensure you don’t overspend.

    2. Talent Buying

Depending on the type of concert you’re organizing and your budget, build an artist line-up that your attendees will enjoy and appreciate. Do an analysis of what works best for your audience. For example, if you’re organizing a concert in Washington for people aged between 21-50, who enjoy pop music, then book an artist like Pitbull or Nelly. Also, if you’re going for a star-studded line-up, make sure they are comfortable performing with the other artists.

How to arrange masks on a wall

    3. Finalize Your Venue

Once your artists are decided, finalize the venue. Is it an indoor or an outdoor concert? If you already have a casino or a pub, the venue won’t be a big concern. But if you’re hosting the concert outdoors, you can choose a stadium or an open space to accommodate everyone.

Depending on your budget and how many attendees your venue can accommodate, finalize your venue. Consider the traffic, transit time, and parking facilities while booking the venue. Geotag the event location on social media and your Online Ticket Store so your attendees can locate the venue easily.

    4. Finalize the Concert Date

Based on the availability of your artists, lock on to your concert event date. Create the buzz around the event and also while launching the concert, send out email campaigns and reminders to the stakeholders and your audience.

With the holiday season arriving soon, there will be several events during the time. Make sure your event dates don’t clash with other popular events. Once you finalize the concert date, kickstart your targeted event marketing strategy.

    5. Take Care of Logistics

Be it a small gig or a big concert, book a super sound system needed for that amazing experience. If it’s an outdoor space, set up the big stage for your artists, rent the stage equipment including light and sound. Set up a backstage, dressing room and take care of the event catering at the concert. While you take care of logistics, don’t miss out on procuring permits for noise and alcohol consumption.

Begin your team recruitment process well in advance as you’ll need volunteers to welcome, answer queries and attend to any issue they may face while at the concert. If you’re offering liquor at the concert, make sure you have trained security, CCTV surveillance, and drones to take care of unwanted situations.

    6. Price Your Tickets

Ticket pricing is one of the crucial factors for growing your event revenue . Once you know your event expenses and the no of attendees expected at the concert, add an extra margin to cover up additional expenses and set up your ticket price accordingly. Create multiple ticket types and seating combos to give your attendees the ultimate flexibility of choosing what’s best for them and their group.

Pro-Tip : Choose to deploy early-bird discounts or surge pricing to sell out concert tickets online.

    7. Pick Your Event Ticketing Partner

Ticketing may seem like a small part of your event planning, but that’s what facilitates your revenue stream generation . From the event management, revenue generation, branding, our event ticketing features are the most preferred in the concert industry. We’re not only feature-rich but also offer 24/7 Customer Support to our event presenters.

Concerts and overcrowded queues go hand in hand. An over-excited audience waiting to enter your venue is not be tested. With our mobile apps – YapScan & YapStats , concert managers have been streamlining ticket validation and data reporting on their mobile devices.

Apart from social media campaigns, use our email marketing integration to send out invites and access codes to VIP attendees weeks before the event.

    9. Post Concert Highlights

Whether it’s your first event or you’re an expert at it, always capture memories or key highlights of your concert. It’ll help you in two ways – you can see the results of your hard work and second, you can share it on social media to let people know about the success of the concert. So, if anyone missed your concert, they’ll make it a point to attend your next concert for sure.

    10. Post-Concert Follow-Up

Build and maintain your relationship with your attendees even after the concert. Event presenters on board with Yapsody use our Email Marketing Integration to personalize their emailers as a post-event follow-up practice. A simple post-event survey or feedback form gives you an idea of what they thought about your event. Introduction: How to Display Keepsakes in a Shadow Box Without Gluing Them Down

How to arrange masks on a wall

How to arrange masks on a wall

We all have keepsakes that we want to keep around. Unfortunately some things don’t display well on shelves or you just don’t have enough shelf space .
A shadow box is a great idea and they come with pins to help you keep light things in place, but what do we do about the heavy things?
Visions of epoxy and other adhesives might be running through your head but these can permanently ruin your pieces if you ever wanted to display them differently or destroy their value do the road.
So here is a solution I have used for a long time to display things of importance.
I like using this method but one setback is if you are really close you can see the string but most of the time you are not that close and I don’t seem to mind

    Step 1: Gather Your Supplies

    You will need :
    Shadow box frame
piece of cardboard big enough to fit in the frame
    scissors
paper glue, and embellishments to decorate your background
    needle
magic stretch string, the clear works best but the frosted works in a pinch especially on white things like my tiles

    Step 2: Deconstruct the Frame

open the frame and carefully remove the foam lining common on most of these frames

Step 3: Trace and Cut Your Cardboard

Trace the frame back onto your cardboard and cut out

    Step 4: Decorate Your Background

You can do this however you like. I used some scrapbook paper that I glued down then I added some of my grandmother’s lace as an accent. in my later pictures you will See I had a more ornate paper but later decided to use a simpler one so I flipped it over and tried again.

I have used plain cork on a lot of mine because of its simplicity and because it has no dye that could transfer over time

    Step 5: Place and Mark

Arrange your items onto your board.

Now decide the best place to put your string to hold the items on.
For most pieces to will need a top and a bottom line.
So find a place where the line will be the most inconspicuous and hold on well.
mark a dot where the string will enter and exit

Step 6: Make Holes and Thread the String

use the needle and poke a hole in all of the places you marked.
string the stretch string through a set of two holes and tie in a square knot in the back.
how tight you tie them depends on how big your piece is.
Sometimes it helps to slide the piece in and pull against it as you tie.

Step 7: Place the Object Under the Strings

Now just pick up the string s and place the items under them.
If they are too loose you can tie the top and bottom ends together to make them tighter.

Step 8: Put the Frame Together

    put the frame together
    frame,cardboard backing
sometimes if I cut the board a little small to cling to the frame lip I will glue it to the backing.

Step 9: Finished Product and Tips

Now you can wipe off your fingerprints with windex and hang it where desired.

    Tips:
So sometimes I’ll use the strings criss crossed in an x pattern so that it will hold it better instead of straight across. I did this on the rocks in the square frame

If I am trying to put something heavy in the box I’ll put it on the bottom and use the string to more or less stabilize the item, but when you put the frame on its sitting on the lip of the frame. like the salt shakers above.

Most of my boxes seem random because I tend to organize them by who the items belonged to.

Learn how to plant a privacy hedge in 8 simple steps.

Privacy screens like all hedges can serve several purposes and can add value to many different types of property.

How to arrange masks on a wall

    Benefits:

    • Serves as a living privacy fence to provide privacy from street traffic and neighbors
    • Creates a sound barrier to reduce noise
    • Acts as a windbreak to protect against harsh winds
    • Works as a living snow fence to reduce snow
    • Serves as a living privacy fence to limit your view to mask distant objects

    cart Purchase a Privacy Screen

    Steps:

Determine the type of tree that best suits your needs

Evergreens are great for reducing noise, reducing snow, and screening all year long. Deciduous Trees offer a wider variety of landscaping elements including spring flowers or fall colors but do not provide a year round screen.

Decide how high you want your screen

Determine how high you want your screen. Put a ladder or have someone stand where you are considering placing the hedge, this will let you visually see how high you want your screen.

    Popular Evergreen Tall Tree Hedges
    • American Arborvitae is a popular tree hedge but can grow 40′ to 60′ tall
    • Green Giant Arborvitae is a popular fast growing hedge that can grow up to 60′ tall
  • Popular Evergreen Shrub Hedges
    • Emerald Arborvitae grows 10′ to 15′ but can be trimmed shorter
    • Nigra Arborvitae can grow 20′ to 30′ but takes pruning well so it can be trimmed shorter
  • Popular Deciduous Shrubs
    • The Rose of Sharon is a great flowing hedge
    • North Privet is a fast growing shrub that is suitable for many yards
  • Decide how much width you have available

After figuring out your main reason for planting and how high you want your hedge, the next step is to determine how much space you have available. If you have a large amount of space available you may consider making a double or triple row. If the space is tight you may consider the following trees or shrubs.

Planting in rows close together trees and shrubs will not spread out as wide as if they were a single species in a landscape.

    Narrow Evergreen Tree Hedges
    • American Arborvitae will grow up to 15′ wide in the wild but can trim shorter in a hedge setting and due to close planting proximity will greatly reduce overall width.
  • Narrow Evergreen Shrub Hedges
    • Emerald Arborvitae grows 3′ to 4′ wide in the wild but commonly 2′ wide in hedges
    • Korean Boxwood grows 4′ to 6′ wide in the wild and can be trimmed to fit smaller spaces
  • Narrow Deciduous Shrub Hedges
    • North Privet grows 4′ to 6′ wide in the wild but can be trimmed to more compact widths.
  • Select a plant that meets your needs

Now that you know why you are planting a hedge, how much space you have, and how tall you want your screen; you can select a plant.

Check out the hedge overview in Step 2 to compare popular hedges.

    Rows and Spacing

The amount of space you have and how dense you want your screen will determine the number of rows you plant. Spacing between rows is based on crown width, but at a minimum try to avoid root crowding by setting at least 12″ to 24″ apart measuring from the center of the plant. Spacing will depend on the type of shrub or tree you are planting and how close you want them at maturity.

    Evergreen Trees
    • For evergreen trees, like junipers and cedars, you would want 6-8 feet between trees
    • For pines and spruce trees it is recommended to leave about 10-12 feet between trees
    • American Arborvitae can be planted as close as 3 feet
  • Evergreen Shrubs
    • Mid-sized evergreen shrubs you may want to plant 3 to 4 feet apart
    • Narrow shrubs like the Emerald Arborvitae or Korean Boxwood can be planted 24 inches apart
  • Deciduous Shrubs
    • North Privet can be planted 24 inches apart
    • The Rose of Sharon should be planted 2-3 feet apart
    • Again, at a minimum try to avoid root crowding by setting at least 12-24 inches apart measuring from the center of the plant. Also remember by planting trees and shrubs in rows close together they will not spread out as wide as if they were a standalone tree or shrub.
  • Map out your planting area

Once you have picked out your plants you are now ready to map out the location of your plants.

You can do this by putting wooden stakes in the ground at each end and tie a string between them. This will make sure you have a straight row or rows. Based upon the amount of space you have determined from Step 5, place a sprinkler flag or other marker along the string. (Example: You determined that 24 inches is the amount appropriate for your plan and plants. You would then place a sprinkler flag at 24 inches, 48 inches, 72 inches, and so on.

    Plant your shrubs

For hedges, it is best to dig a straight trench when planting bare root shrubs. For containerized plants, individual holes work best. However, either method can be used.

Training your shrubs as a hedge

Start training your shrubs after it is established and growing vigorously. Generally this takes 1-2 seasons after planting.

To train as a hedge, trim top and sides a few times per year as necessary, removing about one-half the length of new shoots. Most needled evergreens make their growth early in the season, while most broadleaf evergreens and deciduous plants grow over a longer period of time. Ideal hedge shapes are wider at the base than the top, to allow sunlight to reach the lower leaves.

Training a tree like a juniper, cedar, or pine is not recommended. If you are using a tree to create a hedge or screen, it is best to allow them to grow naturally and follow good pruning techniques.

We inspire people to plant, nurture, and celebrate trees.

How to Format Time in Excel? (Step by Step)

As we can apply the time format for any decimal or fractional value.

Now let’s learn how to apply time format in excel for 0.25 value.

How to arrange masks on a wall

Now, we can see below the “Format Cells” window. From there, choose the TIME category.

How to arrange masks on a wall

Now, we can see all the time types available for this value as per the location setting.

How to arrange masks on a wall

We can actually see the preview of the selected cell time format. Choose any of the ones to see a similar time in the cell.

How to arrange masks on a wall

By using the TIME format category, we can also use the “Custom” category as well to modify the time format.

How to arrange masks on a wall

I have applied the formatting code as “hh:mm:ss”, so my time shows the preview as 06:00:00. This time format code will show the time in 24-hour format, so if you don’t want to see the 24-hour time format, then enter AM / PM separator.

How to arrange masks on a wall

So, this will differentiate the AM and PM times.

    Understanding the Time Format Code

As we have learned above, excel time format code is hh:mm:ss. Let me explain this code in detail now.

    • hh: This time code represents the hour part of the time in double-digit value. For example, in the above example, our time value showed as 06; if you mention a single “h,” then the hour part will be only 6, not 06.
    • mm: This code represents minute part of the time in double-digit value.
    • ss: This will represent the second part of the time.

If you don’t want to see the “seconds” part from the time, then apply only the “time and minute” part of the code.

How to arrange masks on a wall

We can also customize the time. For example, 0.689 is equal to the time of 04:32:10 PM.

How to arrange masks on a wall

Instead of showing like the below, we can modify it as “04 Hours, 32 Minutes, 10 Seconds”.

How to arrange masks on a wall

    We get the following result.

For this, we enter the below custom time code.

hh “hours”, mm “Minutes”, ss “Seconds” AM/PM

So this will display the time as we have shown above.

Different Formatting Technique for More than 24 Hours’ Time

Working with time could be tricky if you don’t know the full formatting technique of time because if you want to enter the time more than 24 hours, we need to employ different formatting code.

For example, Mr. A was a sales manager, and below are his call records for the past 5 days.

How to arrange masks on a wall

Now he wants to calculate his total call duration of the week.

How to arrange masks on a wall

So let’s sum all the days’ in time format of cell B7.

How to arrange masks on a wall

OMG. We got the total as 03:20:10, which is absolutely wrong.

This is a real-time experience of my own. By looking at the data, we can easily say the total duration is more than 03:20:10, so what is the issue with it.

The issue is when the summation or time value exceeds 24 hours, we need to give slightly different time formatting codes.

How to arrange masks on a wall

How to arrange masks on a wall

We get the value as 1.13900463. i.e., 1 Day, 20 minutes 10 seconds.

As I told, the time value is stored as serial numbers from 0 to 0.9999; since this total is crossing the fraction mark, we are getting this error sum.

So for this, we need to apply the time formatting code as “[hh]:mm:ss.”

How to arrange masks on a wall

    We get the following result.

How to arrange masks on a wall

Same formula we just have changed the time format to [hh]:mm:ss.

    Things to Remember

    • Time is stored as decimal values in excel.
    • The date and Time are combined in excel.
    • When the time value exceeds 24 hours, then we need to enclose the time format code of the hour part inside the parenthesis. i.e. “[hh]:mm:ss”.

Mason jars can be used for so many things, but I mainly use them for organizing.

Mason jars come in different shapes and sizes, and they’re clear so you can see everything inside of them.

You can use mason jars on your work office desk as a writing utensil holder to organize pencils, pens, and markers.

At my local dollar store, the mason jars are sold in a case or individually.

And like I mentioned before, they come in different shapes and sizes, so you find the perfect mason jar to fulfill your organizing needs.

We’re taking a look at how-to create maps and map walls in Minecraft!

How to arrange masks on a wall

Learn how to make a Map & Map Wall in Minecraft with our easy to follow guide! We’ll run you through the step-by-step process of creating Maps and creating a nice Map Wall for decoration. If you want to know where you’re going and where you’ve been, then creating these is going to be important to your adventuring.

    How-to Craft a Map

Creating maps in Minecraft is a bit more resource intensive than you might thing. While getting the paper for them is relatively easy, you also need to have a Compass! This can be a bit harder to obtain early on in the game.

    Step 1: Create a Compass

Like I mentioned, first we’re going to need a Compass. to create one of those, we’ll need 1x Redstone and 4x Iron Ingots. You’ll likely need to go down into a cave or find both of these, because while Iron Blocks spawn relatively high, Redstone Blocks can only be found pretty close to the bottom of the map (maybe you’ll find some Diamond as well!).

How to arrange masks on a wall

Once you’ve squared away your Iron Ingots and Redstone Dust situation and created a Compass, we’ll be moving onto the next step!

    Step 2: Find Sugar Cane

How to arrange masks on a wall

We’re now going to need Sugar Cane. This can be found naturally occurring near water, or you can possibly buy some from a Wandering Trader for an Emerald each. If you get some, you should probably start a small cane farm. It can only grow next to water, so either find a nearby lake/river to plant it or dig up some terrain and fill it with water and plant next to it!

    Step 3: Create Paper

Once you’ve located some Sugar Cane, you’ll need three of them to craft 3x Paper.

How to arrange masks on a wall

Step 4: Create a Blank Map

You’ll need nine total Paper to craft, so gather that up and grab your Compass! Here’s the recipe to receive a Blank Map (9x Paper, 1x Compass):

How to arrange masks on a wall

    Step 5: Set the Location

Once you’ve got your Blank Map, you’ll just need to hit your Use Item/Place Block key to give you a map around the location you are currently in!

How to arrange masks on a wall

    Using a Cartography Table

In some versions of Minecraft (Bedrock & PS4), you can also use a Cartography Table to create a map. First, create the table:

How to arrange masks on a wall

Once you’ve got that setup, just put in a single piece of paper into the bottom slot! That’s it, you’ve now created an Empty Map. Here’s some other stuff you can create:

    • Map + Paper = Expanded Cleared Map
    • Map + Empty Map = Cloned Map
    • Map + Glass Pane = Locked Map
    • Map + Compass = Locator Map‌ (Bedrock)
    • Empty Map + Compass = Empty Locator Map‌ (Bedrock)
    • Paper + Compass = Empty Locator Map‌ (Bedrock)

    How-to Create a Map Wall

If you want to make an awesome decorated wall with a part of the map of your current seed then this is the way to do it! First, we’re going to need some Sticks and Leather to create some Item Frames.

How to arrange masks on a wall

These Item Frames will be used to hold the it in place on the wall. Create as many as you’d like depending on how big you want to make. I recommend sticking with a square, so 2×2 or 3×3 are good sizes. However, don’t let that hold you back, feel free to get creative with it! For the purposes of this guide, we’re going to be doing a 3×3 wall.

How to arrange masks on a wall

Go ahead and lay it out where you want it to be in your home or base. Now, head to the area you want to be the center. Be sure to pick carefully, because this is going to dictate the look of the rest of the wall. Once you’ve located your spot, use a Blank Map which will give you the beginning of your wall.

Now that you have your map, you will notice a small white arrow on it. That’s you! If you move around, you’ll notice the arrow move as well. What we want to do now is travel south until we see on the map that it turns into a dot instead of an arrow. That means we’re off of that section. Once we’re there, create another map out of a blank. You will need to explore around the area to make sure the map is fully opened up. You should now have the middle and middle-bottom section complete.

This was really helpful! Thank you for teaching me how to make a wall map! 😊👍

Do you have any solutions to the arrow not changing into a dot. What I can see if I google, is that everyone has the arrow into dot version, while it doesn’t happen anymore. I walked way off the map and it stayed an arrow the whole time. So how will you make your map seemless?

Are you playing on Java or Bedrock Edition?

Most of us have a treasured collection at some point in our lives. Maybe you collected marbles or pretty stones as a kid. And now, you might have a collection of beautiful shoes or pillows for every season. I’ve always been a fan of dishes and pottery and appreciate all the beautiful ways to display pottery.

Given ample space in a vintage cupboard, a humble pottery collection takes the form of a still life painting. The spacing of the pieces lets you enjoy the unique beauty of each one.

Display pottery by grouping like styles or colors together. This vintage green pottery display makes a beautiful impact against a white wall.

Pottery can be equally beautiful when displayed alone, especially when filled with a beautiful bouquet.

Stoneware crocks look lovely with rustic baskets on shelves. A few pieces are pulled onto the table for organic centerpieces.

It’s okay to group more than one collection together in a single location. Vintage quilts pair with large white pottery in a rustic country cupboard.

Modern pottery vases in creamy whites and brown-black combos capture your eye beneath a contemporary oil painting with like colors. The grouping grows as more pieces are collected.

Vintage green bowls look charming with blue ceramic pitchers. A geometric wallpaper in contrasting pink and cream creates a fun backdrop for the collections. Always consider the backdrop when you display pottery. Sometimes all you might need to do is paint the inside of a cabinet to make your arrangement pop.How to arrange masks on a wallPhoto by Alison Kandler Interior Design

Are there any fiesta ware fans in the audience? Mix and match the colors to create a cheerful display on open shelving in the kitchen (or dining room).

You might be tempted to set large pottery pieces apart from one another, but they make a truly impressive arrangement when grouped together.

Don’t be afraid to display white on white. Ironstone pottery and dishes look beautiful displayed together almost anywhere. White ironstone is one of my favorite collectibles. It has such timeless appeal.

Learn how to hang a collage of pictures on your wall. Here are some tips and tricks on making it look great without looking like you DIY’d it.

Slowly but surely, the painting in our home is coming along! The hubs just finished mudding and painting our foyer. To celebrate, I had him hang up a wall art collage. Obviously, he was not too thrilled about putting more holes in the wall after the work he put in mudding.

Check out my Pinterest board that was designed specifically to collect ideas for my foyer remodel and below for a preview of what I’ve done for the wall.

My goal was to create a funky collage for the entryway with random photos and trinkets. I found the pieces I wanted, so I wanted to make sure that I liked the way that the collage would be hung. Here are directions on how to hang wall art collage while minimizing the amount of holes you make on the walls due to reorganization.

Tips on Choosing Coordinated Collage of Photos and Frames

In order to make your collection look cohesive, here are a few things you can do to ensure your frames and photos are coordinated:

    • Ensure that the frames are in the same color tones.
    • Determine if you want a varied look or very similar sizes.
    • Use wrapping paper, packing paper, or newspaper to determine the placement of your collage.

To hang a wall collage to allow it to look coordinated and professional, you’ll want to ensure that it has a cohesive design as well as spacing so that the colors flow from one visual element to the next.

How to Hang a Collage of Photos and Wall Art

    Materials for Hanging Photo Collage

    • Nails or Screws
    • Picture Wire
    • Tracing Paper or Packing Paper
    • Painter’s Tape

    Tools for Hanging Photo Collage

    • Pencil
    • Screwdriver or Hammer

    Instructions for Hanging Photo Collage

    1. Gather all the art you want to use in the collage. Make sure they are in the same tone family. For my own collection, some of the frames happened to come out of hibernation this year after being stored for over five years! Most of the frames came from Hobby Lobby using a 40% off coupon!

    2. Trace each piece of art onto white gift tissue paper, grocery bags, packing paper, or even printer paper taped together. Then, make sure you put a “hole” where the nail hole for the art is. Here, I used packing paper that a Hobby Lobby employee provided when wrapping some of the new frames that I purchased.

    3. On your wall, tape the traced art paper into the arrangement you want using painter’s tape rolled up behind it. Move it around until you get an even space around the pictures. BIG TIP: I would suggest keeping the paper there for 48 hours to make sure you love the spacing. (I waited a week because I’m so indecisive!)

    4. Then “nail” the nail over the “nail hole” on the paper. Once the nail is on the wall, remove the paper.

    5. FINALLY, hang your all of your wall art up!
