Do you know that reading someone’s mind is not a skill exclusively attributed to professional psychologists? You also don’t have to be an expert in telepathy to know what your opponent is thinking. The task doesn’t require knowledge about cognitive behavioral therapy and art of hypnotizing the people for peeking into their subconscious; it is a lot much simpler than this. Even an ordinary person can be expert in reading someone’s mind, without even knowing it.
The entire game is all about possessing “a unique set of communication skills.” If you have those skills, then you are inevitably pro at reading minds.
Let’s have a look at those attributes that can make you an expert in reading someone’s mind. Do read the point number 4.
1. Ability to Understand the Relative Nature of Truth
The world is facing scarcity of absolute truths. In simple words, your truth is a lie for someone. In the same manner, someone’s reality is a lie for you. This relative nature of differences makes it impossible for people to understand each other. Now, let’s have a more elaborate overview of the phenomenon. You must have come across the famous figure of the number 9, or 6 with two people standing on the opposite poles. Both these people argue with each other whether the value is 9 or 6. Now the question is who is wrong? And the answer is no one. Because both are looking at the picture from their respective sides; in this way, both are true in their conclusion. So, a very first step of reading someone’s mind is by seeing the things from their place.
2. Being a Good Listener
You are not pro at reading someone’s mind if you are too overpowering in a conversation. Such trait makes you talk too much about other things or yourself. In this way, your opponent wouldn’t be able to offer sufficient material that can provide you with an insight into reading his mind. Good listeners are in a position to access every bit of information. They let the second person reveal what he is going through. In this way, they connect the dots and make a conclusion about the potential thoughts a person can have in his mind.
3. You Look for Body Language for Reading Someone’s Mind
One of the easiest ways to tell whether a person is saying lie or speaking truth is by looking at his body language. If you are habitual of paying consideration to few signs, then reading someone’s mind is not such a tough task for you. Those symptoms usually include tone of voice, gestures like hand movements, blinking of eyes and confidence level of a person. Let me tell you that few people are expert in controlling their gestures. They offer such rigid face expressions that reaching their thoughts almost becomes impossible. In such cases, a right approach can be looking straight into the eyes of the opponent. If you are confident enough to stare into the eyes, then you are likely to make for a better mind reader .
4. You Critically Evaluate the Personalities
Evaluating the personalities doesn’t mean judging people on the basis of their appearance. You must have heard that looks can be deceiving. You can’t merely look at a well-dressed person, who has got a luxury car and conclude that person has got a millionaire’s mindset . Critical evaluation of personality means to conduct an in-depth analysis of the person. I have already mentioned in point 3 that you have to be a good listener. Possessing such attribute would make you figure out a conflict in your opponent’s personality.
So, if you don’t fall trap to appearance, then you are likely to be a good mind reader .
5. You Are So Careful with Use of Words
One crucial trick of reading minds is making sure that opponent is comfortable in your company. People are more likely to speak their minds before those who have an enjoyable presence. It is only possible if you don’t ask useless questions. Make sure you are asking the right question at the right time, by not sounding offensive. Knowing the art of saying useful things is necessary to ace the art of reading minds.
Reading one’s mind probably ranks among the highest in people’s list of powers that they would like to have, along with being invisible perhaps. Thus, many would like to know how to read someone’s mind.
Having the power to read people’s mind is not an impossible dream or flight of fancy anymore. Scientists have proven that is already possible and that human beings are in fact natural mind readers. They discovered the ability of the brain to read somebody else’s brain with a high-level experiment with a monkey.
The scientists discovered a cluster of cells in the brain, which they called ‘mirror neurons’, that mirror or reflect other people’s actions, emotions, and even sensations. Like the monkeys, human beings have mirror neurons, which are far more advanced or highly evolved.
These mirror neurons hold the key on how to read someones mind. They not so much as mirror, but anticipate what a person would do next after he or she does a certain gesture or action. For instance, if the baby reaches out for a feeding bottle, the person seeing it would automatically deduce that the baby would bring the bottle to his or her mouth and drink the milk from it. So, in effect, the neurons simulate anticipated action and consequently read minds.
These scientific findings however need more researches and experiments. Also, not all human beings have advanced levels of mirror neurons or do not know yet how to enhance such for mind reading. In the meantime, there are a number of techniques taught on how to read someones mind.
Eyes, considered to be mirrors of the soul, can be mirrors to people’s minds as well. Many experts cite that reading eyes is the first step to reading minds. When the pupils of someone’s eyes grow big, it means they are interested, excited or even aroused. Thus, you can use this as a gauge of their feelings by mentioning something and checking their pupils’ size. For instance, you can mention a persons name to someone and you can tell if that person likes or is angry at the person whose name you mentioned.
In understanding how to read someone’s mind or trying to discern what he or she is thinking about, one should pay extra attention not only to the eyes, but to their overall facial expression, body language, spoken words, tone of their voice or manner of speaking. All of these give clues to their state of mind and emotions.
To be good at reading peoples minds, of course takes a lot of practice as well as self-introspection such as meditation. You should be attuned to yourself first before you can even think of reading other peoples thoughts. If you want to be an expert on how to read someone’s mind, you have to be more alert and sensitive to clues and signals coming from other people.
Experts warn though that mind reading has inaccuracy as well. It is not completely accurate because a person’s prejudices, biases, past experiences, and memories affect how they interpret or read peoples thoughts or emotions.
Messing wasn’t done convincing Stalin. It’s stated that Stalin wanted Messing to attempt to get into his home office with out a pass he, Stalin, was there. Messing accepted the challenge and walked into Stalin’s workplace one working day with armed males. Messing has used his powers to convince the guards that he was the feared head of the Magic formula Law enforcement, Lavrenti Beria.
So now we’ve made that clear allows speak about a method exactly where you CAN use it in a magic tricks. This is to make a group response more powerful. This things really works and will subtly add to your mind reading results.
It’s just an simple parlor trick, but what about those truly great routines then? The routines that I’m speaking about is where the mentalists requires somebody from the viewers and tells him to get https://storify.com/racialjar7464/magician-methods-learn-magic-methods-using-items-f an object from his pocket, whilst the mentalist flip about, stares at it, acts as if http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/magic he is considering about it, and tells the topic to place the object back again in his pocket. After wards the mentalist turns about and following heading into a little trance (some of this guys crack me up) he tells you what the item is.
These magic secrets have come out in the open up enabling you to levitate like other magicians. It is important to connect to the individuals about and distract their attention whilst you have a tendency to levitate. You have to engage on lighthearted banter with the individuals while you levitate. To levitate, you have to wear mild clothes. Levitation has been carried out by magicians on the sidewalks and it has been the basis of numerous road magic secrets and techniques. Do the magicians really levitate? They don’t, but produce an impact that they are floating and that is what many do during shows and on television.
I produced a manual for magicians on how to market their functions. After that, I produced a sequence of CD sets that defined my family members act, my after supper act, my college show act, and other performances.
Many mentalists inquire concerns in a way that tends to make them appear like they could be questions or they could be statements. They make a statement but allow their pitch go up at the end, so it could be a question as well. For example, “So, you function with numbers?” Ask questions in such a way so that they can be perceived as statements. That way, if the topic affirms your question, it will seem as though you understood the solution. If the subject indicates that you are incorrect, however, it\’s alright–you had been just inquiring a question.
And for the online guides, you don’t have to pay a fortune. The costs are a portion paid by magicians to discover the exact same secrets from the masters. Guides for road magic secrets are simple, simple to adhere to actions and available on-line. If you are not happy and have not been in a position to grasp mentalism, you can usually return the guides and get your cash back again.

Reading someone's mind
Reading someone’s mind through telepathy has a long and legendary history. But if you want to have this ability too, you may have to rethink what mind reading is. If you envision closing your eyes and having someone from across a stage project their thoughts into yours, so that you can “hear what they’re thinking,” you are out of luck. People claim to be able to do this but they don’t teach their methods to anyone. However, mind reading is still open to you, and everyone, really, through a technique called Cold Reading.
Cold Reading is actually a set of techniques developed to give the appearance of reading someone’s mind. In fact what you’re reading are signals your subjects, i.e. the people whose minds you intend to read, are subconsciously giving you without their knowledge.
Sounds pretty cool, huh? It is. It’s great at parties and in business. For the most entertaining form of Cold Reading, watch Derren Brown’s show on British Television: the Illusionist. This highly popular show exhibits Derren Brown, a mind reader who explains and dissects his ability, reading people’s minds, hypnotizing them, and even controlling their actions. In one episode he walks through the streets of a bustling city asking people for their wallets, phones, and watches, and without so much as a moment’s hesitation, they all give them to him.
Cold Reading won’t give you abilities like Derren Brown’s, at least not at first. Here’s how to Cold Read: First, choose a subject carefully. The main ways to do this are to either to pick someone you know already, but who doesn’t know you; to ask for a volunteer from the audience, because presumably the volunteer will want you to be able to commune with the dead or do whatever you claim to be able to do; or to “shotgun the audience,” which means you make broad, general statements to a group of people such as “I’m sensing someone here has problems in their marriage.”
The next step is to profile your subject. This means you learn as much about your subject from their body language, dress, and reactions to you. Everything visible about a person can help you build a set of assumptions with which you can begin to predict specifics about that person’s personality and background. The next step is to go fishing for revelations about your subject’s life.
You may know next to nothing about the person in front of you, and you don’t need to—they will give you the secrets about themselves without realizing they are, if you ask questions about them in such a way that they appear to be statements. For example, if you they’re the person who has marital problems, you could say, “you’re marriage has been on your mind a lot lately, hasn’t it?” If you’re wrong about your statement, it doesn’t mean you’re not a psychic, because the statement was just a question.
Most of the time, your subjects will supply more information than necessary from these question-statements. It’s from these confessions that you learn more about your subject. To do this well you have to be a great listener, to really open yourself to all the information the subject is releasing to you, from what they say to how they move their hands. Every bit of data is vital for the would-be psychic.
Another technique is to use Barnum statements, which are named after P.T. Barnum, cofounder of the famous circus by the same name. A Barnum statement is one that applies to nearly everyone, such as: “you have a big decision to make soon.”
From these techniques and others you’ll give your subjects the impression you’ve read their mind, when in fact you’ve just appeared to, using specific methods to pull out secrets the subjects themselves have supplied.
While telepathy sounds like a superpower, reading someone’s mind is actually a skill that can be learned. From anticipating the needs of a client to knowing how to approach your boss, developing an inner intuition about what others value can help you get ahead.
People send signals about their thoughts all the time, but it can take practice to tune in. “When the messages you receive say that the person isn’t on the same page, these are clues that are telling you to step back and redirect. “It’s time to change the conversation or change your approach.”
There are five ways you can read someone’s mind–or at least take an educated guess–and build better business relationships:
1. Start With Generational Differences
Understanding someone’s generation can give insight about how he or she thinks. It’s a lens through which they view life, says Miner.
Understanding someone’s generation will help you know the best way to approach them to develop a relationship.
Generations also value different things.
2. Recognize Hot Buttons
Another way to tell what someone is thinking is to look for their pain points, which involves asking the right questions. it’s important to establish a personal bond to get to know what they consider to be important. “You have to have big ears and a small mouth.” skipping pre-canned conversations and entering the relationship as a discussion. “Ask open-ended questions that allow the person to share their strengths and challenges,”. “Or share stories about what you’ve done for others. Nine times out of 10, people will agree that they have the same issue, which helps you better understand what they need.”
3. Consider Personalities
It can help to notice and observe individual qualities to determine who they are as a person and what’s important to them.
Relates well when people methodically lay out their ideas: “I’ve taught my team that they have to come to me prepared to back up their initiative with numbers.
Look for clues into someone’s personality by paying attention to characteristics and verbiage. Someone who prefers to be dominant, for example, might have an overly firm handshake. People who welcome humor will often insert sarcasm into a conversation. Use these clues to determine their values and their approach.
4. Look for Nonverbal Communication
5. Be a Good Listener
Finally, listen to what someone is saying as well as what they’re not saying. While this is harder when the conversation is done over the phone, an engaged or passionate voice is obvious. It’s also apparent when someone is frustrated.
“Their tone changes, or you’ll hear a sigh “It’s important to develop a good ear that can listen for the subtle sounds.”
Anything critical or that involves emotion should never be communicated by email. “Pick up the phone. “Emails are awful for conveying meaning behind the words. They can be a real hindrance to being perceptive.”
People have always been fascinated by the mysteries of the unconscious mind. Everyone has had a strange dream, perhaps about someone or something they haven’t thought about in years, and thought “Where did that come from?” and “What does it mean?”
Dreams can also be about objects, people, or situations we have never encountered before. They can be so vivid that it’s impossible to think they don’t carry a deeper, hidden meaning. In many ways, we as humankind have always been fascinated by our dreams.
So, what about dream walking? Is it ethical to do so? Should we really enter the dream of someone else, leaving them to wonder what it meant? What are the ramifications of doing so? And if you decide you want to try dream walking for yourself, where do you start?
Before answering these questions, let’s start with the simplest one:
What Is Dream Walking?
Dream walking is when someone who has honed their abilities and skills decides to enter someone else’s dream. They can communicate with them and manipulate the surroundings and occurrences that happen in their dream world.
This allows the person doing the dream walking to interact with the dreamer while they are asleep. It allows you to have a conversation and be reunited with someone who is physically far away, or spend time together in the spiritual realm.
Difference Between Astral Projection and Dream Walking
Many people often confuse dream walking with astral projection. So, what is the difference between dream walking and astral projection?
Well, both have mystified us as humans form the beginning of time. Dreams have been the inspiration of many defining events throughout history. Astral projection has been referred to as when the soul leaves the body and then travels to other realms in time and space. So, are these two phenomena mutually exclusive, or are they able to occupy the same space by intersecting? Some don’t think do. This is because dreaming is something that happens within our minds. These supposedly random pictures are brought up through our cortex, and we see them play our while we are unconscious.

In contrast, in the case of astral projection, the soul departs from the body. It investigates other places. Some note that vastly different experiences happen in each phenomenon. Astral projection, for example, can result in hyper awareness, while the elements of dream walking can be confusing and murky.
Of course, while each phenomenon can appear to have distinct differences, there are always exceptions to any rule. Some psychic dreams, especially those that are lucid dreaming, can be exciting and vivid. On the other hand, out of body experiences can involve dream-like aspects and confusion. The interesting aspect is that this idea of the dreaming soul or mind has the ability to exit the body through lucid dreams.
How to Dream Walk
Now that you know the difference between dream walking and astral projection, it’s time to ask yourself if you want to be dream walking.
You may choose to walk into someone else’s dreams because you are interested in learning more about them, or you want to share an adventure with them. Dreams are helpful tools for unearthing secrets and solving problems. However, before you decide to pursue dream walking, it’s good to first identify the motivation behind your dream walking quest.
Why are you looking to do it? If your reason is good, ethical, and justified, then there is nothing wrong with choosing to walk the dreams of another. However, if you are breaching someone else’s privacy, doing it for malicious reasons, or otherwise doing something that you know deep down is wrong, then it’s best not to dream walk. Trust your own judgement in this!
Without further ado, here is everything you need to know to enter someone’s dreams and start dream walking in 5 easy steps:
#1: Prepare properly
First, you need to state a clear purpose. This can be through planning a ritual to go along with your attempt, or by meditating and focusing the energy needed. A clear understanding and focus will help you immensely in accomplishing your goals. Seek out a sacred place to go through the process uninterrupted.
#2: Set your thoughts on your target
Let the person whose dreams you are trying to occupy enter your thoughts. Remember that your efforts will have a much higher chance of success if they are in on this plan. If you are able to synchronize the timing, there will be a level of focus with increased meaning. This also allows you to fact check after the process is over. If they don’t remember it, then you have a lot more practice to do.
#3: Meditate on your target:
Meditate with their face, using a photo or your mind’s eye. Put yourself in their point of view and think about their feelings without imposing your own thoughts. Align yourself with the energy they have, so that you can build a psychic bridge.
#4: Drift off without losing your thoughts of them:
Allow yourself to fall into sleep, holding onto the sensation of being your target person. Repeat affirmations like, “I am crossing into his/her dreams,” or “I am about to enter his/her dreams.”
#5: Practice lucid dreaming:
Lucid dreaming allows you to be aware that you are dreaming. When you do this in your own dreams, then you are able to consciously enter another person’s dream. By saying his/her name or focusing on a familiar portal that holds meaning to them, you can enter their dreams.
Are you ready to start walking the dreams of another? Especially when you’re just starting, it’s much easier to communicate with another person and try to work on dream walking together. This helps to build trust between the two of you, and open both of you up to each other’s dreams. This way, you can also talk about the details of your dream to confirm that you really were in one another’s dreams.
On An Essential level, an aura is a magnetic field that surrounds each living being. It is also known as the human energy field, or HEF.
Instead of a single entity, an aura is made of seven different layers that interrelate and form a relatively cohesive body. The layers reflect the physical, emotional, rational, astral, and divine components of each person.
Each person has their own aura that reflects their personal energy and affects their ability to connect with others. Most people have an aura that envelops them within about a 3-foot radius, generally extending 18 inches to 2 feet from the outside of your body. People who have endured trauma and tragedy often have larger auras.
Most people do not see it with the naked eye. However, clairvoyants perceive it, and the aura can be picked up on camera via Kirlian photography.
Each color in the aura has meaning. Some clairvoyants also detect energy patterns, blockages, and scenes in the energy field. There’s a lot of information available for someone gifted with that type of sight.
The missing, and quite important, piece of information about seeing and interpreting auras is so simple that it seems obvious once pointed out. Here’s the thing: because we all have an aura that immediately surrounds our bodies, before we perceive someone else’s energy field, we perceive our own! We must look through our own energy first, in order to see someone else’s.
These Advisors are experts in aura reading and interpretation. They can also help you develop your own skills in sensing auras and helping others.
Being Self-Aware Enough To See Auras
In order for anyone to accurately perceive and interpret auras, he or she must be self-aware enough to recognize where the self ends and another begins. Otherwise, the perception and interpretation is only a projection of the self, instead of a perception of the other person. More adept individuals, such as spirit mediums, who have developed the skill of bilocation (leaving the body but staying in close proximity in order to be able to continue perceiving the immediate environment), are more clearly able to provide aura interpretations. These impressions can be useful in scanning the body for blockages and imbalances, detecting and reflecting personality strengths, and describing scenes of events that have recently occurred or are about to occur.
Professional clairvoyants enjoy using this perception to enhance psychic readings and energy healings, even at a distance. It is a special gift and skill to hone, that adds depth to your experience of your psychic reading, whether via phone or chat.
Edgar Cayce, the great American mystic said, “An aura is an effect, not a cause. Every atom, every molecule tells the story of itself, its pattern, its purpose, through the vibrations which emanate from it. Colors are the perceptions of these vibrations by the human eye. As the souls of individuals travel through the realms they shift and change their patterns as they use or abuse opportunities presented to them. Thus at any time a soul will give off through vibrations the story of itself and the condition in which it now exists.” Cayce went on to say, “So, when I see an aura, I see the man as he is. By experience I have learned to tell a good deal from the intensity of colors. ”

Aura Color Meanings
Auras typically manifest themselves in one of many colors of the rainbow. Many people can see auras surrounding others when they look at them. Depending on the colors that dominate, auras can show important things about the people they surround and their frame of mind. Learning the meanings behind the different colors of auras can give insight into personality traits.
How to Cleanse Your Aura
As energy fields that surround living beings and inanimate objects alike, auras can say so much about the bearer. What if negative energies, blockages, and asynchronous issues have left your aura feeling off balance? The aura, just like all physical forms, can be neglected. This leads to all sorts of problems, not to mention mood disorders like depression and anxiety.
Number of issues can cause your aura to become blocked or distorted. Negative thoughts directed toward you, emotions that you haven’t fully processed, and past life experiences are just some of the concerns that can block your aura. With a past life reading, you may be able to get to the root of some of your thoughts. Spiritual problems and emotional issues can also throw your aura out of synchronization. All of these imbalances can leave you feeling tired, negative, and disconnected. When this happens, it’s necessary to cleanse your aura.
Neuroscientists have found evidence to suggest feeling powerful dampens a part of our brain that helps with empathy.
Even the smallest dose of power can change a person. You’ve probably seen it. Someone gets a promotion or a bit of fame and then, suddenly, they’re a little less friendly to the people beneath them.
So here’s a question that may seem too simple: Why?
If you ask a psychologist, he or she may tell you that the powerful are simply too busy. They don’t have the time to fully attend to their less powerful counterparts.
But if you ask Sukhvinder Obhi, a neuroscientist at Wilfrid Laurier University in Ontario, Canada, he might give you another explanation: Power fundamentally changes how the brain operates.
Obhi and his colleagues, Jeremy Hogeveen and Michael Inzlicht, have a new study showing evidence to support that claim.
Obhi and his fellow researchers randomly put participants in the mindset of feeling either powerful or powerless. They asked the powerless group to write a diary entry about a time they depended on others for help. The powerful group wrote entries about times they were calling the shots.
Then, everybody watched a simple video. In it, an anonymous hand squeezes a rubber ball a handful of times — sort of monotonously. While the video ran, Obhi’s team tracked the participants’ brains, looking at a special region called the mirror system.
Where Empathy Begins
The mirror system is important because it contains neurons that become active both when you squeeze a rubber ball and when you watch someone else squeeze a rubber ball. It is the same thing with picking up a cup of coffee, hitting a baseball, or flying a kite. Whether you do it or someone else does, your mirror system activates. In this small way, the mirror system places you inside a stranger’s head.
Furthermore, because our actions are linked to deeper thoughts — like beliefs and intentions — you may also begin to empathize with what motivates another person’s actions.
“When I watch somebody picking up a cup of coffee, the mirror system activates the representations in my brain that would be active if I was picking up a cup of coffee,” Obhi explains. “And because those representations are connected in my brain to the intentions that would normally activate them, you can get activation of the intention. So you can figure out, ‘Hey, this person wants to drink coffee.’ “
Obhi’s team wanted to see if bestowing a person with a feeling of power or powerlessness would change how the mirror system responds to someone else performing a simple action.
Feeling Power Over Others
It turns out, feeling powerless boosted the mirror system — people empathized highly. But, Obhi says, “when people were feeling powerful, the signal wasn’t very high at all.”
So when people felt power, they really did have more trouble getting inside another person’s head.
TED Radio Hour
Can Hacking The Brain Make You Healthier?
“What we’re finding is power diminishes all varieties of empathy,” says Dacher Keltner, a social psychologist at University of California, Berkeley, not involved in the new study. He says these results fit a trend within psychological research.
“Whether you’re with a team at work [or] your family dinner, all of that hinges on how we adapt our behaviors to the behaviors of other people,” he says. “And power takes a bite out of that ability, which is too bad.”
The good news, Keltner says, is an emerging field of research that suggests powerful people who begin to forget their subordinates can be coached back to their compassionate selves.

If you receive a call from a phone number you do not recognize, you can usually identify who called you without calling back or texting that number. Fortunately, there are several services that allow you to find out whether a business, a debt collector, a scam company or an automated calling system is pestering you.
Enter the phone number into a search engine
This is the first and easiest step to identifying the phone number’s origin. Even if it is a legitimate call, the search engine will return a description. For example, it will tell you if it is a landline number from Ohio or a cell phone number from California. If it is a business that routinely calls thousands of customers, searching for the number will almost always identify the company and its location.
Enter the number into a reverse phone lookup database
If a regular search engine does not reveal the information you want, you can go to any of several web pages designed to identify unknown phone numbers. These are usually free and easy to find. Simply type the number into the database and you will get a location and likely a name. Keep in mind, however, that some engines do not identify cell phones.
Search for the area code and prefix of the number
Searching for the area code location in a search engine or a phone book can produce the state from which the number originates and possibly the specific area within that state. The first three numbers of a phone number also identify location, so a search for those six numbers, specifying that they are part of a phone number, will produce the required information.
How do you know if you are receiving signs from heaven?
No matter how far you feel from your deceased loved ones, they are watching over you. Through mediumship, I’ve learned that the space between life and death is much thinner than we think it is. I believe that our loved ones on the “other side” send us signs, and if we listen closely, we can communicate with them. Mediumship, aka spirit communication, isn’t new or scary. It’s also nothing like the movie Ghost with Patrick Swayze. It’s much more subtle, and it is probably already happening to you. (Yes, you!)
Here is exactly how you can recognize messages from your loved ones on the other side:
A “visitation” occurs when a deceased loved one’s soul visits you in a dream. People are much more receptive to spiritual messages while they are dreaming. Departed loved ones can view dream-time as an opportunity to get across messages to you.
How do you know it is a sign?: You’ll know it is a visitation if the dream features a deceased loved one and feels extremely emotional or real. After you wake up, you may be left with a lingering feeling that you actually talked to the person. The departed loved one also may have revealed a piece of information that you wouldn’t have a logical way of knowing otherwise.
You may simply feel the person’s soul is around you. They may pop into your thoughts randomly, or you may simply just “know” they are there. Sometimes this feeling is accompanied by goosebumps, warmth, a breeze, or tingling sensations in your body.
How do you know it is a sign?: If you have a strong sense of knowing, you shouldn’t doubt it. If your loved one pops into your thoughts without you thinking about them first, their soul is dropping in to say “Hello!”
finding the same symbol in unexpected places
Objects, Symbols, & Shapes.
After someone passes away, you may notice specific objects, symbols, or shapes everywhere. Signs are not limited to typical things like feathers, hearts, birds, or pennies; they can also be something personally significant to you and the deceased person. For example, if your loved one had a four leaf clover tattoo and you start seeing four leaf clovers everywhere, that could be sign for you.
How do you know it is real? You’ll know it is a sign if you see the object continually or see it when you ask for a sign. Signs can also be validated when they happen even though it seems impossible under normal circumstances.
You may keep seeing important numbers, such as the deceased loved one’s birthday or an important anniversary. The numbers may appear on clocks, odometers, tickets, and basically, anywhere else you could find a series of numbers.
How do you know it is a sign?: You will know it is a sign if you keep seeing the same number, and the number represents an important date, time, or had a special significance to your deceased loved one.
Music can be a sign if you ask for a sign and turn on the radio, and the song on the radio just happens to be a special song you shared with a deceased person. If the song reminds you of that person, it can also be a sign from them.
How do you know it is a sign?
You will know it is a sign if the lyrics answer your prayers or relate to your life, if the song was a special song between you and your deceased loved one, or if it seems impossible for that particular song to be playing. For example, if you danced with your dad on your wedding day to an obscure song from the 1950s, the likelihood of that exact song playing when you turn on the radio is very unlikely. I’ve also experienced cell phones, radios, and TVs turning on mysteriously and playing special songs out of nowhere.
Sometimes people you meet in your everyday life can bring you messages or be sent to you by your loved ones in spirit. It could be someone at the bus stop, a friendly helper, a friend, or even a soulmate. People follow nudges of inspiration, and sometimes that inspiration can be heaven sent. People may receive nudges from your deceased loved ones and subsequently enter your life.
How do you know it is a sign?:
If a person comes into your life at the perfect time by acting on their own inspiration. The person may not realize they were “heaven sent,” but if you ask them how they entered your life, they may say something like: “I just felt this unexplainable urge to talk to you, message you, or help you.”
Want to reconnect with someone? Maybe you're needing to track down a long-lost classmate, a friend you just lost contact with, or even look up your genealogy.
You can do all this and more with the resources below that help you find someone online.
All of these sources let you track someone online for free. There are also paid services for finding people online.
How to Get the Most Out of This Guide
We suggest you do the following:
- Have a word processor tool or note-taking program handy to keep track of what you find on the person. You’ll likely need multiple sources to gather enough valuable information on him or her, so keeping it all logged in one place is smart.
- Use as much information on the person as you have available. Do you know their full name? What about their physical address or email address? A date of birth or death can be helpful, too. These tidbits of information, and more, will be helpful in your search.
- Feel free to use as many sources as possible. It’s virtually impossible to find everything you’re looking for on the person from just one place.
Three Ways to Find a Person: TruePeopleSearch
TruePeopleSearch is one of the best people search engines for finding people online. You can find a person using their cell phone or home phone, their name, or a physical address.
After tracking someone down with TruePeopleSearch, there's a ton of information to sift through, like their current and past addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, and possible relatives and associates.
Track Someone Down All Across the Web: Google
While a dedicated people finder tool like TruePeopleSearch is helpful, if the information on the person hasn't been gathered by that site, you won't find it. Fortunately, there are also several really great search engines you can use to broaden your search.
Google is a prime example of a handy resource for finding somebody for free because it scours a tremendous number of web pages and has all sorts of advanced search commands you can use to narrow down your searches.
For example, while typing John Smith will give a general search for that name, putting the name in quotes and adding relevant information, like where he’s from or where he went to school, can help a lot.
Research Strangers and Friends of Friends: Facebook
Facebook is one of the largest social media sites on the web, so there's a very good chance that the person you're looking for has a profile there.
If you have the full name of the person you’re looking for, you can use that to find them on Facebook. You can also find someone on Facebook using just their email address, if you have it. Typing the name of the high school, college, or company that the person you’re looking for is affiliated with, can help as well.
Find People Online Through Public Records
You can also find a person through public records. Some of the techniques above are considered public records, but there are also criminal records, birth records, family trees, government sites, and more that can help you find someone online.
Find a Person With Just Their Username: Usersearch.org
If the person you're looking for has done anything on the web, Usersearch.org should be able to pick it up. There are several ways to search for people, they're all 100 percent free to use, and it scans several websites at once for data.
Usersearch.org is a reverse search tool that finds people using their username, email address, or phone number. It even specializes in searching for people who are cryptocurrency fans that have a presence on forums.
Search for Someone Using Business Information: LinkedIn
If you know the person’s name that you’re looking for, type it into the LinkedIn search box, and you’ll get information such as their current job, education history, professional affiliations, interests, and more.
If you're lucky, you'll be able to find lots of information here, and end your search. Or, you can use what you find to search for the person elsewhere online. Every little bit counts.
Find a Person's House Information: Zillow
Zillow search bar
The best way to search for someone when all you have is an address would be a reverse address lookup tool. However, a real estate website like Zillow lets you find other details about the person’s home just by typing the address or zip code.
When you look for someone here, you won't find a person by their name or dig up any history on them like you can with those other methods, but you will find a wealth of home-related details unmatched elsewhere.
Zillow digs up details like a value estimate, square footage, number of bedrooms/bathrooms, possibly pictures of the inside and the yard, the year it was built, various features of the house, and nearby schools they might have attended.
When your loved ones cross-over into Spirit, they are just as eager to get your attention as you are to get theirs.
Countless times, they attempt to send you signs, visit you in dreams and show up as a presence in your life to demonstrate to you they haven’t died, but rather, they’ve shifted form.
There may be a short period after your loved one crosses over in which they acclimate to their new environment and spiritual conditions and are unable to visit.
Afterward, your loved ones are free to come back, visit, and socialize with you whenever it is right and needed.
One of the things those in Spirit proclaim as their favorite part about being in Spirit is they can spend time with and visit you far more frequently than when they were alive.
But how do you know when they’re around?
There are three primary ways to determine when a sign from a Spirit is a sign from a Spirit.
When it comes to recognizing a sign from a loved one, part of it is removing any of the barriers you have to connect, and the other part is understanding what may be happening.
So, without further ado.
3 Tips To Recognize A Sign From A Loved One
Photo of green tree stand with golden light shining through during the daytime by Frances To on Unsplash
1. Know receiving a sign is like receiving a compliment
A Sign feels good to receive. You usually get a good feeling reverberating through your body when a sign is received.
Physical signs are often confirmed by a feeling of all worry being pushed out of your body. They usually appear with an overwhelming or sudden sense of peace.
When a Spirit sends you a sign, they are sending you special love note and attention, specifically to make you feel better and to let you know they value and care for you.
Same intention as a compliment.
You are worthy of receiving messages from The Spirit World, just as worthy as any other being. You have someone in The Spirit World who believes you are worthy of reaching. And you do.
One of the most common emails I used to receive from readers on the blog is about a sign they received from a loved one, wanting to know if this could be a sign and if it is, who they think is giving it.
When you receive a sign, you’ll feel it, and most people get an instant flash of knowing as to who may have been behind it.
You are worthy of receiving gifts from spirit people both living and crossed over, and sometimes these gifts are signs that feel good, like compliments.
2. Know Spirit people are creative with their signs
If you have asked your mother to send you Spring flowers, as a sign, or your favorite floral scent, and you haven’t left the house yet, know Spirit can get creative.
You may get people sending you flower emojis or even invitations to flower shows.
Perhaps you asked to be visited by pennies placed in your path, and you have yet to notice a penny placed directly in your footsteps.
But yesterday, at the children’s science museum, a little boy ran up to you and showed you a pressed penny he made, placing it right in your face.
Know The Spirit World can get inventive with the format of their signs.
So if you ask for a sign, know you can get one in an out of the box way.
No need to overcomplicate the sign, pay attention to how it feels when you get it and stay open.
In other words, your loved ones are creative with the signs they send you to remind you of their presence, and they do follow trends on getting these messages to you.
Does your loved one have a classic thing that is so something they would do?
Your loved ones are creative in their sign sending, and they want to lift your heart. Thus, often their signs are filled with a sense of their humor.
The sign they send may be unique to them or the situation at hand.
3. Know you may not receive physical signs at all
Back in the olden days of Victorian Mediumship, physical knocks and cracks were the popular signs. These days, some signs are more inductive, meaning their messages may involve more a feeling or a dream.
Your loved ones may be visiting you with an actual presence.
Perhaps, rather than sending you coins and flowers and cardinals, they are just coming and hanging out in your energy realm instead.
This is a ubiquitous alternative to physical sign sending. Your loved ones want to still be in your presence as much as you still want them there, so you may sense them clairsentiently.

While at Columbia University, Andy J. Yap set up a simple experiment. After manipulating his subjects into powerful or weak states (in the lab, psychologists are the most powerful ones of all), Yap asked them to guess the height and weight of others both in person and from photographs.
“When people feel powerful or feel powerless, it influences their perception of others,” said Yap, who is now a postdoctoral researcher at MIT. According to their understanding, w e judge the power of others relative to our own: When we feel powerful, others appear less so –and powerlessness and smallness often go together in our minds.
It is true that CEOs tend to be taller than the average person, and there are estimates that for each inch a person is above average height, they receive $789 more a year. Sure enough, in the study, the powerful people judged others to be shorter than they really are.
Yap’s conclusion nicely illustrates what we’ve always known anecdotally: Power gets to our heads. A decade of research on power and behavior show there are some predictable ways people react to power, which can be simply defined as the ability to influence others. While power in governments and across the world can come at incredible costs, in a lab, it’s surprisingly simple. Asking a person to recall a time he or she felt powerful can get them in the state of mind. There’s also the aptly named “dictator game,” in which a participant is made powerful by putting them charge of doling out the compensation for another participant.
Researchers have even found you can make someone feel power just by posing them in a dominant, expansive body position. Like athletes, for example: Arms outstretch, back arched. Even blind athletes have been known, upon victory, to strike the same pose. They didn’t learn it by seeing anyone do it. There’s something fundamental.
Power isn’t corrupting; it’s freeing, says Joe Magee, a power researcher and professor of management at New York University. “What power does is that it liberates the true self to emerge,” he says. “More of us walk around with kinds of social norms; we work in groups that exert all pressures on us to conform. Once you get into a position of power, then you can be whoever you are.”
This manifests in several different ways. For one, the powerful are seen to be less likely to take into account the perspective of others. In one experiment participants were primed to feel powerful or not, and then asked to draw the letter “e” on their foreheads. The letter can be drawn so it looks correct to others, or correct to the person drawing. In this case, high-powered people are two to three times more likely to draw an “e” that appears backwards to others. That is, they were more likely to draw a letter that could only be read by themselves.
Power lends the power holder many benefits. Powerful people are more likely to take decisive action. In one simple experiment, it was shown that people made to feel powerful were more likely to turn off an annoying fan humming in the room. Power reduces awareness of constraints and causes people act more quickly. Powerful people also tend to think more abstractly, favoring the bigger picture over smaller consequences. Powerful people are less likely to remember the constraints to a goal. They downplay risks, and enjoy higher levels of testosterone (a dominance hormone), and lower levels of cortisol (a stress hormone).
“People who are given more power in the lab, they see more choice,” Magee says. “They see beyond what is objectively there, the amount of choice they have. More directions for what actions they can take. What it means to have power is to be free of the punishment that one could exert upon you for the thing you did.” Which paves the way for another hallmark of the powerful–hypocrisy. Our guts are right about this one. On a survey, powerful study participants indicated that they were less tolerant of cheating than the less powerful. But then when given the opportunity to cheat and take more compensation for the experiment, the powerful caved in. The authors explain how these tendencies can actually perpetuate power structures in society:
This means that people with power not only take what they want because they can do so unpunished, but also because they intuitively feel they are entitled to do so. Conversely, people who lack power not only fail to get what they need because they are disallowed to take it, but also because they intuitively feel they are not entitled to it.
Where there’s hypocrisy, infidelity seems to follow. While stories of politician infidelity are high profile and more therefore salient — think Mark Sanford flying to South America to be with a lover while telling aides he was hiking the Appalachian trail, or Arnold Schwarzenegger’s secret son — there is evidence that the powerful are more likely to stray into an affair. In a survey of 1,500 professionals, people higher ranked on a corporate hierarchy were more likely to indicate things like “Would you ever consider cheating on your partner?” on a seven-point scale (this was found true for both men and women). Dishonesty and power go hand-in-hand. In his most recent research, Yap found that just by posing people in the outstretched, power position, they would more likely to take more money than entitled for their time. (Posing like this for two minutes was also found to increase testosterone and lower cortisol hormone levels. So if you want to feel powerful, make yourself big.)
Though it’s not that the powerful are bad people. “There is a tendency for people to assume power holders are uncaring, they’re cold, they don’t care about the little people,” says Pamela Smith, a power researcher at the University of California San Diego. But that’s not always the case. It depends on who gets the power. “You put someone in an experiment, temporarily, in a high-powered role, and what you find is that people who say they have pro-social values, the more power they have, the more pro-social they are. The people who say they have more self-centered values tend to be more selfish the more power they have.”
So what can the most powerful among us do with this information? The researchers I spoke with suggested that it could at least create self-awareness. If we realize, when in power, what it might be doing to our minds, perhaps we can correct ourselves. Perhaps.
People with a form of synesthesia in which they see colors when viewing letters and numbers really do see colors, researchers, led by Edward M. Hubbard of the University of California San Diego, have found. What’s more, functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) of their brains reveals that they show activation of color-perception areas.
The researchers said their findings lend support to the hypothesis that the condition is due to cross-activation between adjacent brain areas involved in perceiving shapes and colors. Some synesthetes report seeing colors when listening to music, or feeling tactile shapes while tasting food. This cross-activation might develop, they theorize, by a failure of the “pruning” of neural connections between the areas in the developing brain.
The rare condition called synesthesia–in which people’s sensory perceptual circuitry seems to be miswired–was long dismissed as an oddity not worthy of scientific study. Now, however, researchers such as Hubbard and his colleagues are using the condition to gain insights into the neural basis of perception.
In their experiments with synesthetes who report seeing colors when they view numbers or letters, the researchers first sought to determine whether synesthetes really see the colors.
In one such experiment, they presented six synesthetes with patterns of black letters or numbers–known as “graphemes”–on a white background. They chose those graphemes that the synesthetes reported elicited specific colors. They designed the experiment so that if the synesthetes really were seeing the colors, that color perception would help them distinguish shapes such as triangles or squares formed by the graphemes. In another experiment, the researchers found that synesthetic color helped the synesthetes pick out specific numbers or letters in a crowded display.
The researchers found that the synesthetic colors really did help the synesthetes distinguish the shapes or graphemes, compared to normal control subjects who were tested on the same patterns. However, the experiments with both the synesthetes and the controls also revealed that the synesthetic colors were not as effective as real colors in such tasks.
In fMRI scans, the researchers found that the synesthetes showed greater activation in a color-perception region of the cortex when viewing graphemes, compared to normal control subjects. The researchers found that the strength of this activation influences the strength of the synesthetic colors. In fMRI, harmless radio waves and magnetic fields are used to map regions of higher blood flow in the brain, which reflects higher activity in those regions.
Importantly, the researchers found evidence suggesting that synesthetes may be quite different from one another, which the researchers said “has profound implications for the studies of synesthesia that group together data from multiple synesthetes and treat them as if they all come from a homogeneous population.
“The use of single case studies in synesthesia is also of concern because the results obtained with one synesthete may not generalize to other synesthetes.
The researchers concluded that “Our results suggest that synesthetic colors lead to improved behavioral performance in a manner similar to real colors. Because this study uses both psychophysical and neuroimaging measures in the same subjects in the study of synesthesia, we are able to examine specific aspects of the synesthetic experience that previous studies have not been able to address.”

You’ll never get a second chance to make a great first impression.” We’ve all heard that an interviewer, or a stranger at a party, will form an impression of you, your character, your personality — an impression that is nearly indelible — all within the first 60 seconds of meeting you.
Or wait, is it 30 seconds? Twenty?
Forget whatever figure you may have heard. Not to intimidate you, if you happen to be preparing for a job or grad school interview, or a blind date, but new research shows that you may need to have your act together in the blink of an eye.
A series of experiments by Princeton psychologists Janine Willis and Alexander Todorov reveal that all it takes is a tenth of a second to form an impression of a stranger from their face, and that longer exposures don’t significantly alter those impressions (although they might boost your confidence in your judgments). Their research is presented in their article “First Impressions,” in the July issue of Psychological Science.
Like it or not, judgments based on facial appearance play a powerful role in how we treat others, and how we get treated. Psychologists have long known that attractive people get better outcomes in practically all walks of life. People with “mature” faces receive more severe judicial outcomes than “baby-faced” people. And having a face that looks competent (as opposed to trustworthy or likeable) may matter a lot in whether a person gets elected to public office.
Willis and Todorov conducted separate experiments to study judgments from facial appearance, each focusing on a different trait: attractiveness, likeability, competence, trustworthiness, and aggressiveness. Participants were shown photographs of unfamiliar faces for 100 milliseconds (1/10 of a second), 500 milliseconds (half a second), or 1,000 milliseconds (a full second), and were immediately asked to judge the faces for the trait in question (e.g., “Is this person competent?”). Response time was measured. Participants were then asked to rate their confidence in making their judgments.
Participants’ judgments were compared with ratings of the same photographs given by another group of participants in a preliminary study, in which there were no time constraints for judging the personality traits of the faces. (In that preliminary study, there was strong agreement among the various participants about the traits of the people in the photographs.)
For all five of the traits studied, judgments made after the briefest exposure (1/10 of a second) were highly correlated with judgments made without time constraints; and increased exposure time (1/2 or a full second) didn’t increase the correlation. Response times also revealed that participants made their judgments as quickly (if not more quickly) after seeing a face for 1/10 of a second as they did if given a longer glimpse.
Longer exposure times did increase confidence in judgments and facilitated more differentiated trait impressions (that is, less correlation between the different traits for a given person).
All the correlations between judgments made after a 1/10-second glimpse and judgments made without time constraints were high, but of all the traits, trustworthiness was the one with the highest correlation. Along with attractiveness, this was also the trait that participants were able to assess most quickly. The authors suggest, based on evolutionary psychology, that an accelerated and accurate ability to judge trustworthiness in others may have evolved as an important survival mechanism.
But before you rest secure in the knowledge that at least you have a whole 1/10 of a second to make that great first impression at your next job interview, the authors acknowledge that future research may well close that window even smaller. Other researchers recently revealed in Psychological Science that objects are categorized as soon as they are perceived; something similar, Willis and Todorov suggest, may be true of certain trait judgments.
It may be that, to impress a prospective employer with your competence and trustworthiness, or a prospective mate with your attractiveness, you can do it in, well, no time. That may be a good or bad thing, depending.
Psychokinesis (PK)—sometimes referred to as telekinesis or mind over matter—is the ability to move things or otherwise affect the property of things with the power of the mind. Of psychic abilities, true psychokinesis is one of the rarest. Few have been able to demonstrate this ability, and even those demonstrations are highly contested by the skeptics. Do people have psychokinetic powers? Do you? Is there a way you can test and develop your PK abilities?
Psychokinetic Case Studies
Several people have demonstrated remarkable PK abilities:
Nina Kulagina: One of the most celebrated and scrutinized psychics to claim psychokinetic powers, Nina Kulagina was a Russian woman who discovered her abilities while attempting to develop other psychic powers. She reportedly demonstrated her powers by mentally moving a wide range of nonmagnetic objects, including matches, bread, large crystal bowls, clock pendulums, a cigar tube, and a salt shaker, among other things. Some of these demonstrations have been captured on film. Skeptics contend that her abilities would not have stood up to scientific testing and that Kulagina was nothing more than a clever magician.
Stanislawa Tomczyk: Born in Poland, Tomczyk came to the attention of investigators when it was reported that startling poltergeist-like activity occurred spontaneously around her. She could control some telekinetic feats, but only under hypnosis. In this hypnotic state, Tomczyk took on a personality that called itself "Little Stasia," and Tomczyk could levitate small objects when she placed her hands on either side of them.
In the early 1900s, one investigator, Julien Ochorowicz, watched these levitations at a very close range and observed something like fine threads emanating from her palms and fingers, although they were examined carefully before the experiment. It didn't seem to be a trick. "When the medium separates her hands," Ochorowicz observed, "the thread gets thinner and disappears; it gives the same sensation as a spider's web. If it is cut with scissors, its continuity is immediately restored." In 1910, Tomczyk was tested by a group of scientists at the Physical Laboratory in Warsaw, where she produced remarkable physical phenomena under strict testing conditions.
Uri Geller: Geller is one of the most well-known “psychics” who has publicly demonstrated feats of psychokinesis: spoon and key bending have become almost synonymous with Geller’s name. Although many skeptics and magicians consider his metal-bending performances nothing more than adroit sleight-of-hand, Geller has allegedly shown that he can manifest the effects over great distances and in multiple locations. On a British radio show in 1973, after demonstrating key bending to the astonishment of the host, Geller invited the listening audience to participate. Just minutes later, phone calls began pouring into the radio station from listeners all over the U.K. reporting that knives, forks, spoons, keys, and nails began to bend and twist spontaneously. Watches and clocks that had not run in years began to work. It was an event whose success surprised even Geller and thrust him into the spotlight.
Some magicians have been able to duplicate some of these effects, but there may be legitimacy to this telekinetic phenomenon. In April 2001, University of Arizona parapsychology professor Gary Schwartz conducted a "spoon-bending party" at which about 60 students were able to bend spoons and forks, with varying degrees of success, seemingly with the power of their minds.
Some researchers contend that the most common form of psychokinesis is one that is not consciously intended. Poltergeist activity, they suggest, might be caused subconsciously by stress, emotional turmoil, or even hormonal peaks. Without conscious effort, people can cause china dishes to fly off shelves, objects to break, and loud noises to emanate from their houses’ walls, among other effects.
In the same way, PK might also be responsible for phenomena experienced at séances. Table tilting, knockings, and levitation might not be caused by contact with spirits, but by the minds of the participants. And, yes, many séances have been proven to be hoaxes, although the paranormal phenomena documented at some remains unexplained.
How Does Psychokinesis Work?
How psychokinesis works is unknown for certain, but many parapsychologists think that it is a demonstration of the influence of a person’s brain on the physical world.
Robert L. Shacklett, at the Speculations about PK blog, writes that laboratory tests demonstrate that "the release of relatively large amounts of physical energy can be triggered by thought power." And this power can move or influence things, essentially, because cosmologically we are all connected to everything else. "'Thought' takes place at a different level than the physical (call it 'mind') but interacts with the physical through a weak coupling between physical energy and a more subtle energy form," he writes. "The physical level operates in accordance with natural law except at the times when thought interacts with it."
How remains the puzzle. But there are theories:
- Some researchers suspect there might be a quantum connection. Unpredictable, often bizarre effects have been documented in the world of subatomic particles, which is ruled by the perplexing laws of quantum mechanics. Are our minds capable of directing subatomic particles and energies in a way that results in PK phenomena?
- Another theory is that psychokinesis is the manipulation of a sort of human “magnetic field” around the body, which can be concentrated in a specific area. For this to work, you must be able to relax completely and focus your attention without distraction.
- Another speculation is that mediums or participants in séances are able to coalesce sound or heat waves within a room to form coherent energy which can then be directed at an object, such as a table, causing it to move.
Although the "how" of PK remains unknown, research and experimentation on this fascinating phenomenon continue in respected labs around the world.
Developing and Testing Psychokinetic Powers
How many people have powers of telekinesis?
“Everyone has the potential to be able to be telekinetic,” says Deja Allison at Telekinesis on Crystalinks. “Telekinesis is created by higher levels of consciousness. It cannot be created by ‘wishing it’ to happen on the physical level. The energy to move or bend an object is created by a person’s thoughts created by their subconscious mind.”
Mario Varvoglis, the author of "PSI Explorer," suggests that the best way to begin testing psychokinetic powers is not by trying to move a table or even a matchbook. Varvoglis says it's much better to see if you can influence movement on a microscopic level—micro-PK. Micro-PK has been tested for years with such devices as random number generators, in which the subject tries to influence the random outcome of the machine in a way that is much greater than chance. Some of the most interesting tests of this kind were conducted at the Princeton Engineering Anomalies Laboratory (PEAR) laboratory at Princeton University—and the results show that some people really can influence the computerized random number generators with the power of their minds.
I am a strong believer that success and happiness are all about mindset. Your mindset and belief system affect everything in your life from what you think and feel to how you act and react to the world around you.
In order to achieve your goals, your mindset needs to match your aspirations, otherwise, it might be holding you back from getting where you want to be.
Here are 7 effective ways you can upgrade your mindset:
The conversations you have with yourself are a direct reflection of your mindset. If you are telling yourself “I am not good enough to achieve my dreams”, your thoughts will create your reality and your mindset will hold you back from having the life you want. To upgrade your mindset, change your negative self-talk to an empowerment speech. Sounds cliché, but telling yourself “I can do this” or “I got this”, really works.
After changing your inner thought dialogue and the story you are telling yourself, change the way you talk to other people. Avoid phrases like “I am always like this” or “I am always doing this” for encouraging a growth mindset. Furthermore, make it a habit to talk about the things that are going well in your life instead of complaining and talking about your problems. This will encourage a mindset of abundance instead of fear and lack.
Pick a goal you want to achieve and ask yourself: “Which mindset do I need to achieve this goal?” and “Which mindset do people have that were successful at this goal?”.
For example, healthy & fit people might share the mindset “I love taking care of my body, nourishing it with whole foods and exercising every day.”. If it’s your goal to be healthy & fit, act as if you already HAVE the mindset of a healthy & fit person. This way, you are basically tricking your brain to adopt a new mindset and reinforcing it with action.
Read books from great minds to understand and adopt their thinking. Read books about how the mind and brain works. Learn from mindset experts through online courses, events, and coaching.
Here are some of my favorite mindset resources:
by Carol Dweck to learn about the growth mindset
- Everything from Gabrielle Bernstein to adopt a mindset of abundance and align with the flow of life
- The writing of Thomas Oppong on Medium for great nuggets on improving your thinking
- The Online Courses from Denise DT for upgrading your money mindset
Want to upgrade your money & success mindset? Start hanging out with people that are very successful and seem to have an abundance of money flowing their way at any time. It is easier to adopt a new mindset when you see that it is already working for other people. Learn how they think and adapt their daily habits to match their mindset.
Integrate powerful habits into your day that help your mindset change and reenforce your thinking with action. If you are upgrading from “fixed” to “growth” mindset, schedule time for learning and start noting down your learnings and achievements every day. If you are upgrading from “destination” to “journey” mindset, practice being mindful, enjoying the present moment and celebrating small successes.

If you put yourself in situations that challenge you, you have no other choice than to rise to the occasion and upgrade your mindset. It becomes a necessity to survive.
So ask yourself “What situations can I put myself in that will require me to operate on a higher mindset?”. Basically, the idea is to engineer your environment to train your brain!

If you want to read minds or make a wild prediction that somehow comes true, here’s a collection of easy tricks that you can learn and perform for your friends. You’ll find some winners here. But hey, you already knew that, right?
Easy Magic: The Color Spelling Trick
This is a mystifying trick that is great for older kids. In the effect, a spectator secretly selects a color and then by silently spelling it as the magician touches a series of cards, the magician locates the color.
The Killer Prediction
In this convincing trick, you show an envelope and explain that there is a prediction written within. The spectator is given a deck of cards and is asked to mix it and deal cards (face down) onto the table until they feel like stopping. When the letter inside the envelope is read, it states the exact card that the spectator last dealt onto the table.
Easy Trick: The Film Prediction
This mentalism effect allows you to successfully predict a randomly named and chosen film. You ask several people to each name a movie. As each spectator names a movie, you write the title on a slip of paper, fold the paper and throw it into a bowl. After writing down the titles, you write a prediction. Another spectator is asked to reach into the bowl and randomly pulls out a movie title, which is read aloud. When your prediction is opened and read, it turns out to be the very same film.
With this trick, you're able to read a spectator's mind. A spectator shuffles a deck of cards and memorizes the card at the bottom of the deck. So you can't see the selected card, the deck is slipped back into its box. After a bit of mumbo-jumbo, psycho-babble, you're able to tell the spectator the exact card that he is thinking of.
The Deciding Domino
In this prediction effect, you bring out a set of dominos or borrow it from a friend. After asking a series of questions, you carefully select a single domino and set it aside. You ask a spectator to take the rest of the dominos and arrange them in traditional domino fashion with like numbers touching each other and to lay the dominoes into a large circle. When the spectator is done laying out the dominos, there’s one domino that’s needed to close the circle. It turns out that the domino that you set aside earlier is the exact domino needed to close it.
Here’s a great trick to perform at a party. You ask someone to select an item while you’re out of the room, tell everyone else which item was selected and leave it in place. When you return, another person goes from object to object touching them in a random order. When the person touches the chosen object, you’re able to tell everyone that this is the selected object.
The Mystery Wheel
Here's a web-based magic trick. Even though you select a random number, we're going to try and predict where you will end up. Take a magic journey.
Here’s an interactive magic trick that works across the web and you can have fun showing your friends. The secret is based on a simple mathematical principle.
Until recently, neuroscientists have considered the method the brain uses to quickly and easily analyzes faces to be a “black box.” ThePixelsFactory / Wikimedia
Each time you scroll through Facebook, you’re exposed to dozens of faces—some familiar, some not. Yet with barely a glance, your brain assesses the features on those faces and fits them to the corresponding individual, often before you even have time to read who’s tagged or who posted the album. Research shows that many people recognize faces even if they forget other key details about a person, like their name or their job.
That makes sense: As highly social animals, humans need to be able to quickly and easily identify each other by sight. But how exactly does this remarkable process work in the brain?
That was the question vexing Le Chang, a neuroscientist at the California Institute of Technology, in 2014. In prior research, his lab director had already identified neurons in the brains of primates that processed and recognized faces. These six areas in the brain’s temporal lobe, called “face patches,” contain specific neurons that appear to be much more active when a person or monkey is looking at a face than other objects.
“But I realized there was a big question missing,” Chang says. That is: how the patches recognize faces. “People still [didn’t] know the exact code of faces for these neurons.”
In search of the method the brain uses to analyze and recognize faces, Chang decided to break down the face mathematically. He created nearly 2,000 artificial human faces and broke down their component parts by categories encompassing 50 characteristics that make faces different, from skin color to amount of space between the eyes. They he implanted electrodes into two rhesus monkeys to record how the neurons in their brain’s face patches fired when they were shown the artificial faces.
By then showing the monkeys thousands of faces, Chang was able to map which neurons fired in relation to which features were on each face, he reports in a study published this month in the journal Cell.
It turned out that each neuron in the face patches responded in certain proportions to only one feature or “dimension” of what makes faces different. This means that, as far as your neurons are concerned, a face is a sum of separate parts, as opposed to a single structure. Chang notes he was able to create faces that appeared extremely different but produced the same patterns of neural firing because they shared key features.
This method of face recognition stands in contrast to what some neuroscientists previously thought about how humans recognize faces. Previously, there were two opposing theories: “exemplar coding” and “norm coding.” For the exemplar coding theory, neuroscientists proposed that the brain recognized faces by comparing facial features to extreme or distinct examples of them, while the norm coding theory proposed that the brain was analyzing how a face’s features differed from an “average face.”
Understanding this pattern of neural firing allowed Chang to create an algorithm by which he could actually reverse engineer the patterns of just 205 neurons firing as the monkey looked at a face to create what faces the monkey was seeing without even knowing what face the monkey was seeing. Like a police sketch artist working with a person to combine facial features, he was able to take the features suggested by the activity of each individual neuron and combine them into a complete face. In nearly 70 percent of cases, humans drawn from the crowdsourcing website Amazon Turk matched the original face and the recreated face as being the same.
“People always say a picture is worth a thousand words,” co-author neuroscientist Doris Tsao said in a press release. “But I like to say that a picture of a face is worth about 200 neurons.”
The artificial faces shown to the monkeys and the reconstructions that the researchers made using just the neural activity from their brains. Doris Tsao
Bevil Conway, a neuroscientist at the National Eye Institute, said the new study impressed him.
“It provides a principled account for how face recognition comes about, using data from real neurons,” says Conway, who was not involved in the study. He added that such work can help us develop better facial recognition technologies, which are currently notoriously flawed. Sometimes the result is laughable, but at other times the algorithms these programs rely on have been found to have serious racial biases.
In the future, Chang sees his work as potentially being used in police investigations to profile potential criminals from witnesses who saw them. Ed Connor, a neuroscientist at Johns Hopkins University, envisions software that could be developed to adjust features based on these 50 characteristics. Such a program, he says, could allow witnesses and police to fine-tune faces based on the characteristics humans use to distinguish them, like a system of 50 dials that witnesses could turn to morph faces into the once they remember most.
“Instead of people describing what others look like,” Chang speculates, “we could actually directly decode their thoughts.”
“The authors deserve kudos for helping to drive this important area forward,” says Jim DiCarlo, a biomedical engineer at MIT who researches object recognition in primates. However, DiCarlo, who was not involved in the study, thinks that the researchers don’t adequately prove that just 200 neurons are needed to discriminate between faces. In his research, he notes, he’s found that it takes roughly 50,000 neurons to distinguish objects in a more realistic way, but still less realistic than faces in the real world.
Based on that work, DiCarlo estimates that recognizing faces would require somewhere between 2,000 and 20,000 neurons even to distinguish them at a rough quality. “If the authors believe that faces are encoded by nearly three orders of magnitude less neurons, that would be remarkable,” he says.
“Overall, this work is a nice addition to the existing literature with some great analyses,” DiCarlo concludes, “but our field is still not yet at a complete, model-based understanding of the neural code for faces.”
Connor, who also wasn’t involved in the new research, hopes this study will inspire new research among neuroscientists. Too often, he says, this branch of science has dismissed the more complex workings of the brain as akin to the “black boxes” of computer deep neural networks: so messy as to be impossible to understand how they work.
“it’s hard to imagine anybody ever doing a better job of understanding how face identity is encoded in the brain,” says Connor of the new study. “It will encourage people to look for sometimes specific and complex neural codes.” He’s already discussed with Tsao the possibility of researching how the brain interprets facial expressions.
“Neuroscience never gets more interesting than when it is showing us what are the physical events in the brain that give rise to specific experiences,” Connor says. “To me, this is the Holy Grail.”
Breasts can be pleasurable to play with for the one doing the playing and the breast-haver alike. Some people can even have orgasms from breast play alone. Others need breast play in combination with genital stimulation.
Here’s your field guide to the breast.
But first: Not everyone loves breast play
Like any other sexual act, consent is important when it comes to breast play. Keep in mind that some people may not want you to play with their breasts. For some people, it’s a matter of personal preference; for others, it’s a gender identity issue. Trans and genderqueer folks may not want their breasts touched.
You can and should as your partner directly what they feel comfortable with, or you can start slow by tracing your hand across their shoulders and collarbone area. If they tense up or move your hand away, move on to other parts of the body.
The Beginner's Guide to Using a Strap-On
One of the great things about strap-ons is that anyone can use them. If you have a penis, you can…
Be sensitive to timing
Be aware that breast sensitivity can change throughout the month. There will probably be certain points during the menstrual cycle where they feel much more sensitive than usual. There may even be times when they are too sensitive for any sort of breast play. Don’t be surprised if your partner needs different things from you at different times.
Breasts also change a lot after a person has given birth and while breastfeeding. They may not want any breast contact for a while, or may need you to be much more gentle than usual.
No honking please
We’re all unique when it comes to how we like our bodies to be touched, but there are few sexual acts more universally despised than the breast honk. I have never met anyone who enjoyed having their breasts squeezed this way (especially not as sexual initiation ). Please don’t treat your partner’s breasts like old-fashioned horns.
The same goes with kneading. It just doesn’t feel good for most women. Remember Jon Hamm’s breast play move on Kristen Wiig in Bridesmaids? If you haven’t seen it, it’s the perfect example of lackluster kneading. Don’t pull that move.
In general, breast sensitivity comes from the skin, not from the fat of the breast itself. So honking, kneading, and squeezing don’t typically feel as great as stroking and kissing. These moves also neglect the nipple, which tends to be the most sensitive part of the breast (more on this later).
The Beginner's Guide to Putting Toys up Your Butt
So you’ve done a little exploring with your fingers, and now you’re ready to take your anal play to
Work with clothing
You don’t need to be in a rush to unclothe your partner’s breasts. Breast play can feel pleasurable even through clothing, and it can also be a nice way to tease them. Rub their breasts over their shirt. To evoke a sense of teenage nostalgia, put your hands up their shirt and play with their breasts over the bra. Once you get their shirt off, touch the parts of the breasts that the bra doesn’t cover, gliding your fingertips along the top edge of the bra.
Take your time
Even once you’ve gotten your partner’s clothes off, you can still take your time teasing them. Spend some time tracing their collarbone with your finger, then kissing along it. Touch and kiss along the sides of the breasts, without going straight for the nipple.
Pay attention to the underboob and sideboob
Most people tend to squeeze the entire boob, or focus on just the nipple. That’s a shame, because the underboob and side boob can both be exquisitely sensitive. I’m talking about the areas where the breast meets the ribcage. As the names imply, the underboob is the lower part of the breast, and the sideboob is the outer edge (the side near the armpit).
This area tends to respond best to delicate touch. Very gently trace a fingertip along this sensitive curve. Start at the outer edge and slowly work your way around to the middle of the chest. You can also do this with your tongue, or with light kisses.
How to Have Anal Sex for the First Time
You’ve explored anal play for the first time, you’ve played with a few toys, and now you’re ready…
All nipples are unique
Nipples are sort of like clitorises: some people can hardly stand direct contact, while others need very firm pressure. As with the clitoris, it’s best to err on the side of being too gentle, then work your way up to more pressure. Start off by lightly stroking the nipple and circling the areola (the flat section around the pointy nipple). If your partner pushes their body towards you or makes a lot of noise, try gradually increasing pressure. Or just ask, “Do you want more?”
If they wants more intensity, try gently pinching the nipples between your thumb and forefinger. Slowly increase the pressure, and ask them to tell you when it’s too much. Or you can try pulling on the nipples: Cup a breast in your hand and pull on the nipple with your thumb and forefinger, pulling the breast further away from the ribcage. You can also gently twist the nipples—but be careful with this move, as it’s pretty intense.
Get your mouth involved
Get your lips, tongue, and teeth involved as well as your hands. You can lick, suck, and nibble on the breasts. Try licking the curve from sideboob to underboob, or sucking or nibbling on the nipples. You can also get some temperature play involved by licking a breast then lightly blowing onto the moistened area.
If your partner likes a lot of pressure, try sucking and biting on their nipples. Again, start off gentle, and gradually increase the pressure until you find what works.
How to Try Out a Sexual Fantasy—Even If You're Not Sure You're Going to Like It
Fantasies come in many different intensities. Some are so compelling that you’ve just got to act on
Bring in the toys
You can use vibrators or feather ticklers to create new sensations on the breasts. Even running a silk tie or scarf over the breasts can feel great. If your partner likes more intense nipple play, you can buy nipple clamps or suckers. You can also try blindfolding your partner, and touching their breasts with different toys or materials. Not knowing what’s coming can be a wildly intense experience. Or try using use lube or massage oil to help your hands really slide around on their breasts.
Ask your partner to touch them
Another way you can learn what your partner likes is to ask them to touch their own breasts. This can be especially hot while you’re in the middle of another activity, like intercourse or fingering. Watch the specific ways your partner touches their own body, and try to get a sense of how much pressure is involved.

Tarot is one of the most popular divination practices, and though occultists have been drawing the allegorical cards for centuries, illustrated decks are now popping up all over. The intrinsic aestheticism of this ancient art has revitalized interest in tarot, and after seeing so many tarot readings over on TikTok, perhaps you're ready to start your own practice. After all, tarot manicures are even a thing.
Despite its ubiquity, though, the art can still seem elusive and confusing. What exactly is tarot? What do the cards mean and how are they used? Don't fret: The fundamentals are easy to understand. Here's what every beginner should know about the history of tarot, as well as tips and tricks for kick-starting your unique practice.
Where does tarot come from?
Surprisingly, it is a relatively modern craft. Though tarot decks date back to the 1400s, pictorial cards were originally used for games rather than prediction. Cartomancy, or fortune-telling through the use of playing cards, actually wasn't developed until 1785, when French occultist Jean-Baptiste Alliette — known by his pseudonym, Etteilla, the inversion of his surname — created comprehensive links between illustrated cards, astrology, and ancient Egyptian lore.
Over the next century, mystics and philosophers continued to expand the role of tarot. In the late 1890s, several London-based occultists formed the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, one of the groups responsible for the modern magical revival. Two of the group's founders, husband and wife MacGregor and Moina Maters, wrote a manual that detailed tarot's symbolic power, entitled Book T.
The World, the Wheel of Fortune, and the Sun are all Major Arcana cards.
In 1909, Arthur Edward Waite and Pamela Colman Smith designed and published a tarot deck loosely based on the teachings of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. This timeless deck is commonly known as the Rider-Waite deck and is still the most popular tarot variant for both beginner and professional card readers. In 1943, occultist Aleister Crowley (the self-declared nemesis of Arthur Edward Waite) and Lady Frieda Harris published their own interpretation of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn's tarot. Their Thoth deck, named after the Egyptian god of alphabets, incorporates specific astrological symbolism into each card, linking the divination practice to the cosmos.
What's the difference between the Major Arcana and the Minor Arcana cards?
Let's talk about the structure of the deck and the meanings of its cards. Any magical practice — tarot, astrology, or spell work — is based on the Hermetic axiom "as above, so below." In other words, the macrocosm of the cosmos is reflected in the microcosm of individual experience. Accordingly, the entire universe exists within a tarot deck, with each card representing a person, place, or event. These symbols are depicted in both the Major Arcana cards, which speak to greater secrets, and the Minor Arcana cards, which speak to lesser secrets.
The Major Arcana cards represent monumental, groundbreaking influences. They punctuate our journeys and each stands alone as a powerful message, representing life-changing motions that define the beginnings or ends of cycles. These dynamic cards appear during major transitions, signaling distinctive moments of transformation. The cards are numbered to represent stations within our greater journey through life; their chronological order reveals the passing of time.
The Minor Arcana cards, on the other hand, reflect everyday matters. These cards showcase ordinary people engaging in mundane activities, such as dancing, drinking, sleeping, or quarreling. They suggest action that is triggered by human behaviors and appear during gentle transitions that may be temporary or have only minor influence.

How many tarot cards are there?
The Minor Arcana cards are broken up into four suits, each containing ten numbered cards and four court cards. In the Minor Arcana, the card's number reveals the stage of an event: The ace card represents the beginning, while the 10 symbolizes the end. Similarly, the progression of the court cards demonstrates our understanding of circumstances on an individual level, representing either personality types or actual people. The Page (or Princess, in some decks), Knight, Queen, and King interpret circumstances with increasing levels of understanding and wisdom.
The suits (Wands, Pentacles, Swords, and Cups) correspond to their own unique areas of life and astrological elements. Wands symbolize passion and inspiration (corresponding with the fire element), Pentacles represent money and physical realities (corresponding with the earth element), Swords depict intellectual intrigues (corresponding with the air element), and Cups illustrate emotional matters (corresponding with the water element). These suits reveal which spheres of influence are being activated, offering guidance on how to best manage any circumstances at hand.
How can I get started reading the cards?
Together, the Major and Minor Arcana cards create a comprehensive pictorial language. It is important to remember that all the answers we seek exist innately within the deck, with each card illustrating a person, circumstance, or potential outcome. Since there are no secret puzzles or hidden agendas with tarot, the ability to discern meaning lies within your own narrative interpretation.
Before any reading, be sure to shuffle (or "clear") the deck. This deliberate gesture should become a meditation. Feel the physicality of the cards in your hand, visualizing your question. If you're reading for another person, use this reflective moment to get to the root of their situation and help you formulate specific queries for them. Take as long as you need. Clearing the deck is a critical first step in reading tarot cards, as it opens the pathway between spiritual dimensions. Whenever you're ready, cut the cards into three and reorder the pile, face down. On your favorite cloth (be precious with your tarot deck), prepare to pull cards for your tarot "spread."
What are the different tarot card spreads?
The "three-card spread" is one of the most simple and effective tarot spreads. You can adjust the categories to accommodate any situation (past, present, future; yourself, the other person, the relationship; opportunities, challenges, outcomes; mind, body, spirit). The cards and their corresponding positions will effortlessly expose bonds and dynamics. But before reading the straightforward explanation of each card, take a moment to create your own story based on observation. How do the cards you drew make you feel? What are the colors and symbols? If there are characters, are they facing towards or away from each other? Do the illustrations seem cohesive or disjointed?
Many people see the number 11:11 often when they look at the clock. What does 11:11 mean and what should we do if this happens to us?
Many people believe that seeing a specific number, or repeated numbers, often is a sign from the universe. It doesn’t necessarily need to be seeing the number 11:11 on the digital clock. It could be any number, or repeated number, in any situation, such as on license plates, phone numbers, or your bank statement. So, what does 11:11 mean?
Some people suggest that seeing repeated numbers is just a coincidence. However, many of us go through periods when we see such repeated numbers numerous times a day. This seems like more than just a chance occurrence. In fact, many people believe that seeing number sequences is an important message from angels or spirit guides and thus, call them ‘angel numbers’.
Humans have always paid special significance to numbers. For many, the number 7 is lucky, while some believe the number 13 to be unlucky and others consider it a good omen.
The ancient Greek philosopher Pythagoras introduced the idea that all numbers have different vibrational properties. From these ideas, the practice of numerology was developed.
What does 11:11 mean in numerology?
Numerology is a system of divination. It suggests that numbers have unique meanings derived from mathematical principles and vibrational properties.
These numbers can be used to predict certain events or to pass on certain information. For example, you can use the numbers that make up your birth date to find your particular life path number, which, similar to a star sign, can predict certain things about you and your life.
The number 1 itself signifies creation and manifestation and is a powerful number of pure potential. It signifies that you are about to create or manifest something into your life. In addition, the number 11 is a ‘master number,’ which points to a state of intuition, insight, and enlightenment.
If you see the number 11:11 often, it is a sign that you are becoming more aware and enlightened.
So, what does 11:11 mean for you?
Seeing 11:11 everywhere may mean the universe is trying to draw your attention to something, to guide you and make you more aware. It can be seen as a recognition that you are on the right path in life. Some also link this number with a twin flame reunion when you meet the person you are meant to be with.
Other people suggest that angel number 1111 means that your spirit guides or guardian angels are trying to contact you. Signs such as this are ways that spirits can use to get through to us on the physical plane.
Seeing 11:11 can also be seen as a sign that you are becoming more connected to spiritual energy. Repeating numbers may indicate that a door into the spirit world is opening up to you. It can be calling you to step through this door and embrace spiritual guidance more wholeheartedly than you ever have before.
When you see 11:11 often, you are in a position to manifest powerfully. Be aware of your negative thoughts and feelings so you don’t manifest what you don’t want! Instead, focus on positive energy and thoughts.
In order to make the most of this energetic ‘doorway,’ you might like to adopt one or more of the following practices in order to discover what 11:11 might mean for you:
Every time you see 1111 angel number, write down what you were thinking and doing and how you were feeling. If it’s a wake-up call and the universe is trying to draw your attention to something, these thoughts could give you an insight into what you should be focusing on.
Journaling in general about significant thoughts and spiritual experiences can help you gain clarity and piece together what the universe is guiding you towards.
Some people say you should make a wish when you see the numbers 11:11. While you can do this, it is often more useful to thank the universe or spirit world and ask for further guidance and clarification. This will help you to develop a deeper understanding of what you truly want to manifest in your life and what you have been called to this plane to achieve.
3. Contact your spirit guides
If you have spirit guides, contact them for further advice. If you have yet to meet your spirit guides, then it might be time to connect. They could be sending you a message, calling you to meet with them for divine guidance.
4. Be open to new opportunities
When you see the number 11:11 often, you are being called to open up to new opportunities. Stay open and receptive to new ideas. If there is something that has been calling to you that you have been ignoring, now might be the time to investigate it further.
Allow yourself to stay open-minded. We often dismiss valuable insights because they seem irrational or woo-woo. But we have nothing to lose by digging a little deeper.
When you see these numbers, stop for a moment and meditate on what they mean to you. Meditation quiets the busy mind chatter and allows new insights and ways of thinking to enter.
6. Look for more signs
If the universe or spirit world is trying to contact you, it may do so in many ways. Pay attention, be open to receiving more messages, and look for other synchronicities.
Make a note of your dreams and also of any other number patterns you see. Keep a journal of information about this so you can see if a pattern of guidance is emerging. This will help you better understand the messages you are receiving.
7. Ask a spiritual advisor
The above practices offer general guidelines, however, a spiritual adviser will be better placed to determine what the meaning of 11:11 is for you. You might also like to consult a numerologist for more information and a reading based on your birth date.
Have you seen repetitive numbers recently? What does 11:11 mean to you? Please share it with us below!
Chances are, you’ve found this page for good reason: You’ve just picked up a Tarot deck, perhaps your first. You’ve spent some time flipping and familiarizing, and are ready to put them to use. This is an exciting undertaking—insight into your past, present, and even factors influencing your future can all be found in the cards.
You may be a bit confused or overwhelmed. There are lots of cards to master (we’ll get to that in a moment), and if you’ve read the booklet that came in the company of your deck, you’re likely feeling only slightly closer to becoming the intuitive that you know you are.
But, with Tarot, it’s best to trade fear for trust. By the time you’re done here, you’ll feel much more comfortable shuffling, placing, and reading your cards.
What is Tarot, Anyway?
First, a bit of history—Tarot got its start as a card game in the 15th century. So while it may seem like reading cards is an ancient practice, the use of Tarot for divination really came into its own in the 18th century. Because the Tarot deals in archetypes (or universal symbols), the meanings of each card and the stories those meanings tell span culture, continent, and time.
You may have seen the Tarot presented as a means of telling the future—even changing it—but the cards are actually most useful for reflection and empowered decision-making. From this vantage, Tarot can only aid on your journey to fulfillment.
Why Are Some Cards In Suits, While Others Aren’t?
If you’ve taken a good look at your cards, you will have noted that some have distinct names and are numbered zero to 21 (or one to 22, depending on the deck), while others that appear numbered in the same way that you might see in a traditional card deck, complete with aces, kings, and queens. The cards without suits make up the major arcana. Those that are labeled as belonging to swords, wands, cups, and pentacles comprise the minor arcana. A standard deck has 78 cards: 22 in the major arcana and 56 in the minor.
What’s In The Major Arcana?
The major arcana is made up of cards that directly represent archetypes, and suggest major themes and lessons that the querent (the subject of the reading) should pay attention to.
There are many cards in your deck that symbolize impending change. If cards from the major arcana—think Death, or The Tower—show up, that means that the changes are going to be big, important, and an opportunity for a life-altering lesson.
Of course, not all of the cards that comprise the major arcana are created equal. Depending on your deck—and they are available in increasing, and increasingly creative, numbers—some card names may be altered. Be sure to read up on your deck to catch all of its idiosyncrasies.
What’s In The Minor Arcana?
The minor arcana represents the joys, triumphs, hopes, fears, annoyances, and challenges we experience every day. The word “minor” doesn’t imply that these issues aren’t important; it just means that they’re more temporary and less far-reaching than those you’ll see in the major arcana cards. They’re also easier to act upon.
The minor arcana is separated into four suits—wands, swords, cups, and pentacles, traditionally—and each suit relates to a facet of human experience. Wands represent action and motivation; swords represent thought processes and decision-making; cups represent feelings and emotions; and pentacles represent the material world, as in work and finances.
Some decks may mix this up, but the meanings generally remain the same.
Ready For A Reading?
This crash course has been leading toward a simple goal, a readiness to give yourself—or soon, perhaps others—a reading. If you’ve heard that it’s bad form to read for yourself, know this is a myth. In fact, using the cards to gain insight and is one of the quickest ways to start getting honest with yourself—all it takes is a simple shuffle.
There are a variety of Tarot spreads to try. And while it may be tempting to lay out a ten-card Celtic Cross, it’s best to begin with something a bit more basic, though equally powerful. A three-card spread is both illuminating and versatile.
A Three-card Spread How-to:
Begin by shuffling the deck while contemplating your question. You may want to cut your shuffled deck into three piles and then reassemble it before pulling your cards, or you may not—do what feels right. Likewise, you may want to spread the cards out face down and move them around before picking, rather than splitting the deck. How you shuffle is entirely up to you—the most important aspect is your unwavering concentration on the question you want answered.
Pull three cards off the top of the deck, and position them to be read from left to right. This spread may seem simple, but it’s also very versatile. You can use the cards to denote past, present, and future, or, situation, action, and outcome. If you’re doing a relationship reading, you can even designate the first card as yourself, the second as your partner (or potential partner), and the third as the relationship between you both. Just don’t change the parameters of the inquiry mid-reading!
Don’t worry if you don’t know the meanings of all the cards yet—there are 78 of them, after all. A big part of reading the Tarot is building up your own intuition. Master the keywords associated with each card—use your booklet or the web for reference—and remember that the illustrations are there for a reason, and likely a factor that drew you to your deck! Look at the cards closely, notice how they relate to one another—look for connections; They should tell a story. Most importantly, don’t worry about perfection. Time, practice, and an open mind will serve you well on this journey.
Now, press pause your research, shuffle your deck, and pull a three-card spread. You’re well on your way to reading the Tarot like a true seer.
Minecraft is a great game to play with friends, and you can cross-play with them no matter the platform, as long as you have the same version.
This means that if you own the Java Edition of Minecraft, you can only play with folks who also have the Java Edition. The same goes for the Bedrock Edition. If you have different versions, you’ll have to buy the other one to play together.
All of the platforms that run Minecraft Bedrock Edition can play together. This includes the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Windows PC, and mobile devices. You will need a Microsoft account in order to do this. Your Xbox account, if you have one, will work fine. Otherwise you can make one for free right here.
Once you have a Microsoft account, you’ll want to make sure that you’ve added the friend you want to play with on that account. Often this will require sending a friend invite to their Xbox Gamertag.
Once that’s sorted, here’s how you can get into the same game.
Joining a friend’s game
If your friend is playing in their own hosted session, you can join them straight through the game. As long as you’re friends via Microsoft, you can join their session by scrolling over to the Friends tab and looking under “Joinable Cross-Platform Friends.”

These sessions can only hold up to eight people at once.
If you’re invited to join a session, a pop-up will appear that you can either accept or decline.
Inviting friends to your game
To invite friends, open the start menu in-game. A sidebar will prompt you to invite friends. Once you select “invite,” you can add people from your friends list to join your game.
Keep in mind which player permissions you have active in your session (visible in settings). You can change it so people joining your session can only look at your world, or you can let them run wild, building and breaking blocks. You can even grant them administrative privileges. You can also set these privileges individually once friends join your session, by clicking the yellow icon next to their names.

Using Realms for Multiplayer
Players can also join Realms, which are servers that stay online all the time and don’t require a host to be currently playing.
You can send invites to your Realm via your Friends tab or invite via a link if you’re playing on a PC. Clicking the link will launch the Minecraft app. Console players will need to be invited via friends list.

After joining the Realm for the first time, you will be able to return to it whenever you want from your Friends tab. The Reams you’ve joined will appear under “Joinable Realms,” as long as the Realm is still online. (Keep in mind that Realms are capped at 11 players active at the same time, so if you can’t join, it’s possible there are too many people already in there.)
