Earlier this year, Yahoo announced it was spinning off its small business division into a separate company called Aabaco. They said the local business services would be branded under the name of Luminate. To further complicate things, Yahoo then outsourced management of its local business listings to Yext.
Now Luminate is gone, Yahoo Small Business has become Aabaco Small Business, and Aabaco outsources to Yext to manage local business listing under a product called Localworks.

Don’t worry about all of this. There’s only one thing that’s important … here’s how can still get a free local business listing on Yahoo.
How to Claim a Free Local Business Listing on Yahoo
- Go to Yahoo, search for your business, and you should see a link to “Add or update your business”.
- That link will take you to http://www.yext.com/pl/yahoo-claims/index.html (you can just go here directly if you prefer).
- Enter your business information and click “Find My Listings”.
- You’ll then see page that is powered by Yext. It’s a bit intimidating with an “error rate” and all of these warnings that you’re not standing out and not verified through Yext. For now, don’t worry about all of this, just click the big “Continue” button.
- Next, you can update the information about your listing. Complete this page fully … and don’t forget to use the same NAP (name, address, phone) that you use everywhere for your business. Click the “Continue” button when you’re done.
- Yext will then present you with four paid plans, but immediately below these plans is a tiny link that says, “Claim your Basic Listing only on Yahoo” … click that link.
- You’re now at the “Yahoo Basic Listing Checkout” page. Complete the checkout and click “Place Order” (it’s free).
- Yext will send you an email to verify your email address. Click the link, create a password, then login to your account.
- The final step is to verify you represent this business. The easiest method is to have them call you, but there are other methods as well.
That’s it! You now have claimed and can manage your free listing on Yahoo.

I wanted to make a Facebook page for our new company, Locadium, and I thought this would be a perfect way to show small business owners how they can add a new business to Facebook. So without further ado here’s:
How to add a business to Facebook:
1.Go to the How To Set Up A Facebook page on Facebook.com
It can be found at https://www.facebook.com/business/learn/set-up-facebook-page
In order to add your business you’ll need the following:
– A name for your page
– A blub about your business
– A profile photo – Displays at 170×170 pixels on desktop, 128×128 pixels on smartphones and 36×36 pixels on most feature phones. It will be cropped to fit a square so use an image that looks good as a square
– A cover photo – Displays at 820×312 pixels on desktop, 640×360 pixels on smartphones. It must be a minimum of 399×150 pixels.
– A call to action (e.g. go to website, call, etc.)
2. Click “Create a Page”
Select “Local Business or Place”
3.Enter Your Business Information into “Local Business or Place” Box
You can enter Page Name (Business Name), Page Category, Street Address and Phone Number. Enter as many fields as possible. The click the blue “Get Started” button.
4.Fill Out Your New Facebook Business Page
You will be taken to an empty New Business Page where you can add your photos, user name, call to action, business description, etc.

- Visit https://login.yahoosmallbusiness.com/signupto signup
- After that, you will have to enter some details about the business you want to list. Start typing a category in the Business Category box and Yahoo will bring up available categories. Click the “Next” button
- Sign in to Yahoo. You have 4 choices; create a new account, sign in with Yahoo ID, Google ID, or Facebook ID
- If you choose Gmail ID, after your login has been authenticated, you’ll be required to provide your Date of Birth, after that click on the “Continue” button.
- 5. You will now have to edit and submit your business information in accordance to the one information you’ve been providing to other business listings like Google, Bing, etc. That’s your information must be accurate. Upon doing that, upload one company picture on the required box and then click the “Submit information”
- You’ll then be asked to choose a type of verification. However, in our own recommendation, the quickest way is to receive a phone call. A Yahoo robot will call and supply a four-digit number. Enter the number and click “Verify Code”.
There you go, your submission is now under review and once the review process is done, Yahoo will now send an email to you stating if your effort yields good or not.
