How to add information to google maps

For some time Google has in part been relying on the community’s assistance to keep Google Maps information up-to-date and accurate. Today the company has announced new ways that make it even easier to add places to Google Maps or to suggest edits.

Google has also expanded its existing ability to add and/or edit information on Google Maps to everyone worldwide. This applies to all countries where the Google Maps app is available on either iOS or Android.

When adding or editing information, there is now the option to contribute more information about a business beyond just its name, address, and phone number. For example, you can mention if the restaurant has an outdoor patio, what the ambiance is like, and so on.

Google is now not only leaning on the community to contribute information to Google Maps, it’s leaning on the community to contribute suggested additions from others. This ensures it shows up in Google Maps faster, but is also no doubt a great help to the team at Google responsible for reviewing Maps edits.

If you’re looking up a place where someone has suggested new information, you will see a notification on the page that “someone suggested new info.” Tapping on that link will bring up a box where you can verify whether the suggested information is accurate, or you will have the option to say you are not sure. If enough people say the information is accurate, it will go live on the Maps listing.

This feature is available to Android users on the Google Maps app and both Android and iOS users on mobile Google Search.

Is there a possibility to give Google Maps for iOS access to data from Contacts on iPhone or iPad?

No, not directly.

Can sync contacts to Google and the Maps have access.

You are wanting to let Google Maps peek at you contacts to get an address but not “remember” it. That’s not going to happen.

Currently, for Google Maps to “know” where a contact lives two things have to be true. One, the contacts must be in a Google account, and, two, that Google account must be logged in (in the Google Maps app).

Your wish, as it stands, is denied.

I think you guys are wrong about this. Google Maps has access to my local iPhone contacts which are stored in iCloud. When I make a change in an iCloud contact I can immediately see it reflected in Google Maps on my iPhone when I search that persons name.

When I go to Settings > Privacy > Contacts, I have Google Maps turned on there. That setting isn’t there by default, it’s sort of hidden and not logical to get it to show up. I forgot how access was given but I think it was just typing a name of someone in the search field and then scroll to the bottom and there is an item that says something like “search your contacts” and when you tap that it will give the standard iOS Contacts access pop up notification.

Another way that might do it is using the Location Sharing menu item in the Google Maps hamburger menu. Then tap the Contacts+ icon and it should also ask for permission. Once permission is given it should show your local iPhone contacts as well as your Gmail contacts.

If done properly, an embedded Google Map can be a great addition to your website. It’s a great tool that allows your visitors get a birds-eye view of your business, read reviews, and get turn-by-turn directions directly to your front door.

Putting a Google Map on your website is a rather simple process and doesn’t need any special programming skills in order to complete.

Follow the steps below to properly install a Google Map on your website.

Step 1: Go to Google Maps

The first step is to go to Google’s homepage, click on the grid next to the sign in button and select Maps (see below), or go to Google Maps directly.
