Apple device allows the owner to add the email address in FaceTime on the iPhone, iPad, and Mac computers. Your iOS and macOS device is designed to accept a new email as it is happening under the Apple policies. A newbie wouldn’t know how to do this and that is why we are going to cover it in this tutorial.
How to add a new FaceTime email address in iPhone and iPad?
Millions of iPad’s are Wi-Fi editions and don’t have a cellular option in them, and the service utilizes Apple ID to create a communication line between two Apple devices. The Cupertino-based company doesn’t care, whether you are making a video call via iPhone, iPad, or Mac as long as it is coming from an Apple machine.
You have to exit the current email address and enter a new email address to call or receive FaceTime calls.
- Fire up Settings > FaceTime.
- Tap the “Apple ID” email address in blue color.
- Tap on “Sign Out” to remove it.
- Choose “Use your Apple ID for FaceTime” to continue.
- A pop-up shows up on the screen, and choose “Use Other Apple ID” to continue.
- Enter your Apple ID email address and password, and then tap on “Sign in” to access the FaceTime features.
- Wait for a few moments and let the iPad register the new email address on Apple servers.
Your new email address is ready and intact with the software, and anyone can make a call or text you using the new contact point.
You no longer need an activated number to use iPad (Wi-Fi) FaceTime features, and it doesn’t matter if you have a Wi-Fi edition or cellular edition. The limitation is that you cannot add multiple email addresses as contact point, and it is what it is.
How to add new FaceTime email address on Mac or MacBook?
It is a sophisticated feature that is available in Mac and even in Apple ID web-based dashboard.
- Open System Preferences > Settings.
- Click on “Apple ID” in the system preferences to access advanced functions.
- Choose “Name, Phone, Email.”
- Click on the + button under the ”Reachable At” section.
- Enter the new email address and then click on ”Next” to continue.
- Enter the verification code.
- That’s it, you have successfully added another email address.
- Open the “FaceTime” app from the dock.
- Click on “FaceTime” from the top panel and then choose ”Preferences” to continue.
- Now, choose the new email address under “You can be reached for FaceTime at” and tick the new address.
You have finished the task, and callers can contact you from the new address.
If you juggle multiple email addresses for various purposes on iPhone, iPad, or Mac, you may find it useful to add additional email addresses for FaceTime. This allows you to both call out from another email address, and perhaps more importantly, you can also receive inbound FaceTime calls for the newly added email address too.
You can add emails to FaceTime from either iOS or Mac OS X, by doing so it associates the new email address with an Apple ID and thus allows FaceTime audio and video for that address. You can seemingly add as many email addresses as you want to associate with FaceTime too, though it’s probably wise to stick with emails that you actually want to be reached at.
How to Add Additional Email Addresses to FaceTime from iPhone & iPad
If you want to add another email address to FaceTime from iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, here’s how you can quickly do so:
- Open the Settings app in iOS and go to “FaceTime”
- Tap on “Add Another Email…” and enter the email address to add to FaceTime as “[email protected]” format
Once the email address has been verified and associated with the Apple ID, you can make and receive FaceTime video and voice calls to that email address.
How to Add a New Email Addresses to FaceTime from Mac OS X
Adding new email addresses to FaceTime from the Mac is also simple:
- Open the FaceTime app and pull down the FaceTime menu to select “Preferences” and go to the Settings tab
- Click the “Add Email” button and enter the desired email address as usual
Note that if you’re on the Mac and you remove a phone number, you’ll lose the ability to make phone calls from the Mac using an iPhone.
Removing an email address from FaceTime is done through the same settings screens, in iOS and iPadOS it is a matter of tapping on (i) and choosing “Remove Email”, whereas on the Mac you can uncheck the box alongside the email address in Preferences.
This has many uses, whether for adding additional personal email addresses to Facetime, or perhaps to add a public email address so that other people can start a Facetime with you from the web using this URL trick. Use it how you see fit for your own Facetiming needs.

This button or link is no longer available. How can I add another email address to my FaceTime?
Go to Settings > FaceTime > you can add new contact address for yourself there, like an email address linked to an Apple ID or a phone number. You can also add by Apple ID.
I recommend adding email addresses as appropriate, and removing them as appropriate too!
Funny story about this FaceTime thing, so I added another email address to FaceTime a long time ago for work, my work email or whatever to my work iPad. Never thought twice about it, then left that job and started work at another company, forgot to remove the old email, right? So one day I get a FaceTime call out of the blue from a contact I didn’t recognize, and I answer it… and it’s some new guys wife! LOL! The new guy had the same iPad with the same email address, and he did the same thing I guess by adding it to his work iPhone or whatever, the ID was a generic like “[email protected]”. So we just thought that was funny and laughed it off. Then a few days later, I get another FaceTime call…. I answer it in my pajamas from the couch doing WORK FROM HOME that day, and it’s my old conference room full of 12 people trying to talk to the new guy over FaceTime! LOL! Hey old friends, remember me, we worked together for a few years!? Well now I’m in the middle of your meeting on your 10′ projector! It was funny, we all got a good laugh.
The lesson here is not to mingle your personal and work email addresses on your personal hardware, and if you do, don’t forget to delete the old work email addresses otherwise you may end up getting talks from all sorts of people!
Using either iMessages or FaceTime on the iPhone is a great alternative for coworkers to stay in touch in the event that messaging services like Slack go down. They’re also a handy means of communicating between buyers and sellers, as it provides a more intimate way of either checking out or showcasing a product. But you’re not always going to want to give out your real number to everyone.
As great as using iMessage and FaceTime for business purposes are, many will no doubt raise concerns about privacy. Sharing your phone number or primary iCloud email with colleagues, buyers, or sellers is less than ideal, as it’s private in nature and is only usually shared among friends and family.
Fortunately, iOS 11 has a simple solution to this problem; It lets you add additional email accounts such as a work-related addresses or ones linked to either eBay or Craigslist, to mask your primary iCloud account. Though similar to iOS 10, the new method varies slightly in where to access the setting for adding accounts.
Step 1: Add Additional Emails for FaceTime & Messages
Before we get the ball rolling, it’s important to note that you can’t add additional iCloud accounts, as doing so will yield an “Invalid” result upon entering, so only email accounts not linked to Apple and iCloud can be added on.
That said, open the Settings app to get started. Tap on your name at the top, then select “Name, Phone Numbers, Email” once inside your Apple ID page. You may need to input your Apple ID password to continue. From there, tap on “Edit” next to Reachable At.
Once you’ve tapped on “Edit,” an option to “Add Email or Phone Number” will now appear right under your primary iCloud accounts, so go ahead and select it and tap on “Add an Email Address” once the confirmation prompt pops up from the bottom.
Step 2: Verify Email Accounts
Now, add the email address you wish to use with both Facetime and Messages and tap on “Next” to proceed. For security purposes, Apple will send a verification code to the address you provided, so check your email and input the six-digit code once you’ve retrieved it. After your email’s been verified, tap on “Yes” to confirm its addition from the prompt that appears.
If you only wish to use the email address for FaceTime, select “No” from the prompt, then go to “FaceTime” inside Settings and tap on the email address you just added to use it. If you only want it for iMessage, select “No” from the prompt, then go to “Messages” inside Settings, tap on “Send & Receive,” then tap on the email address you just added.
Once you’ve added your new email address, people will now be able to contact you via FaceTime and iMessage using the new address provided. You can also have your new account show up as a Caller ID in FaceTime simply by tapping on it from within the FaceTime settings.
Please note that while there’s also an option to enter phone numbers as seen in Step 1, they can only be the phone number associated with your SIM card. We’ll be sure to update this guide if this ever changes.

Generally, when you launch the FaceTime for the first time on your Mac, it would ask for the Apple ID if you are not running on one. Once you do that, it would start working. And on your iPhone or iPad, it would straight away start using the Apple ID that has been configured to your iOS device.
In this post we would talk about the step by step method to add another email account FaceTime on Mac and iOS device.Lets begin the class. 🙂
How To Add Another Email Account On FaceTime On Mac
- First you have to make sure that the FaceTime is running on any one ID
- Now navigate as FaceTime > Preferences
- In the middle of the screen you will find a section saying, You can be reached for video calls at
- Now enter the new email id and click on Add Another Email Button and that is it
This is you can add another email account on FaceTime on Mac. Simple and straight forward.
How To Add Another Email Account On FaceTime On iPhone / iPad

- Get on to the Springboard and click on Settings button

These are complete step by step guides to add another email account on FaceTime on Mac, iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch.
FaceTime is one of the best iPhone apps there is, allowing you to keep in touch with friends and family around the globe. In order to use it, though, the app will need to use your phone number or email address as your FaceTime caller ID.
You can add new addresses — for example, a work or school address — and remove them at any time, though, and set any active number or address as your Caller ID. That way, no matter which Apple device you’re using to make a FaceTime call, no one will ever be confused about who’s calling them.
How to enable or disable phone numbers and email addresses for FaceTime on iPhone and iPad
You may not want every FaceTime number or address to ring on every one of your Apple devices. For example, you may not want your work iPhone number to ring on your family iPad. That’s why you can choose to turn any number or address on or off on any iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac.
- Launch the Settings app from the Home screen of your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
- Scroll down and tap FaceTime.
Tap on the checkmark to the left of any number or email address you want to turn off (prevent from calling FaceTime on that device).
To re-enable any numbers or addresses, simply reverse the process and tap the number or address to add the checkmark back.
How to change caller ID for FaceTime
If you have multiple numbers or addresses set up for FaceTime, you can choose which one shows up when you call your friends, family, or associates. That way, they always see the same contact for you, and always know you are you.
It also means if you have an iPhone for work and an iPad at home, your iPhone contacts see your work address and iPad contacts your home address. It’s all up to you.
- Launch the Settings app from the Home screen of your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad.
- Tap on FaceTime.
Tap the email address or phone number you’d like to set as your caller ID. Your options are listed in the Caller ID section at the bottom. The checkmark shows the currently selected email address or phone number.

Have you ever wanted to hide your phone number from iMessage, or stop using a phone number for iMessage, whether for privacy reasons or another purpose? Ever wished you could use an email address instead? If so, you’ll be pleased to know that you can indeed get this done pretty easily on your iPhone or iPad.
Apple lets users access iMessage with either their phone numbers or email addresses, but the issue here is that when you set up the service on an iPhone, your phone number is used by default. Some users may wish to keep their personal phone numbers private and not share them with everyone they talk to on iMessage. And, if you’re one of them, you’ll need to force iMessage to use your email address instead. Generally speaking, it’s best to let iMessage use the default settings to prevent confusion or misconfigurations, but if you’re an advanced user who wants to change iMessage to use an email instead of of phone number, we’ll show you how to do that.
How to Use Email Address for iMessage Instead of a Phone Number, via iPhone or iPad
To take advantage of these options, you’ll need to first set iMessage to use your Apple ID which will unlock the email addresses linked to your Apple account for use with the service. Once you’re done, just follow these steps:
Head over to “Settings” from the home screen of your iPhone.
There you have it. You can continue to use iMessage with just your email address.
There’s one key thing that you need to note here. Removing your phone number from iMessage will also remove it from FaceTime as you’ll see in the final confirmation prompt. So, this may not be the best option if you’re looking to use your phone number for FaceTime calls.
If you’re using your personal email address with your Apple account and you’re skeptical about sharing it too, you can create a throwaway iCloud.com email address and use it with iMessage. If you already have one, it should show up along with your Apple ID email similar to the screenshots we attached above.
Another way to not share your actual email would be by using a different Apple ID account specifically for iMessage. No, you don’t have to sign out of your device for this. Instead, you can use this trick.
Likewise, you can make sure your phone number doesn’t show up during FaceTime calls too. This is achieved by changing the FaceTime caller ID on your iPhone & iPad. The procedure is fairly similar to what we discussed here.
Did you make this change for privacy reasons, or another purpose? Let us know the reason you used this trick, and if you have any particular insight or experiences in doing so.
At WWDC 2021, Apple introduced many excellent features and massive updates to FaceTime. But of all, SharePlay got me most hyped up! With this new feature, FaceTime competes head-to-head against video conferencing apps and watch party apps, gaining tremendous popularity due to the WFH situation.
I spent some time exploring FaceTime SharePlay. In this detailed guide, you’ll learn everything about SharePlay and how to use it on FaceTime in iOS 15.
Update: If you’re unable to access SharePlay on your iPhone, update it to iOS 15.1 as Apple disabled the SharePlay feature initially.
What is Apple SharePlay in iOS 15?
SharePlay enables you to share your iPhone, iPad, or Mac screen during a FaceTime call to watch movies or shows and even listen to the same songs in sync with your friends.
Everyone gets control of what’s playing, so a person on the call can play, pause or skip forward according to their convenience.
While there’s nothing new about FaceTime SharePlay that other services don’t already offer, the essence of this feature lies in its deep integration within the Apple ecosystem.
Thus, you can share and enjoy various types of content in real-time with your friends more conveniently.
Which devices and services support FaceTime SharePlay?
FaceTime SharePlay will be available later this year with iOS 15, iPadOS 15, tvOS 15, and macOS Monterey.
However, the feature is also available on the developer beta versions of all the operating systems. If you have Apple’s developer account, you can easily install the beta versions on your supported device. I strongly recommend waiting till the public beta is rolled out.
Compatible apps and services:
Moreover, as of writing this article, SharePlay supports Apple Music and a few other streaming services like Disney+, TikTok, HBO Max, and more (as seen below). The list is expected to grow in the coming months as developers can use Group Activities API to integrate their services into FaceTime.
Now that you know the requirements, follow along to use this feature.
How to use FaceTime Screen Share in iOS 15
As you may already know, screen sharing refers to the ability to present your screen and enable others to watch it in real-time using video conferencing apps like Zoom. FaceTime now enables you to do this and beyond using its SharePlay feature (as explained above).
- Open FaceTime on your iPhone.
- Now, start a video call with any contact.
You can also create a FaceTime link and share it with your contacts.
- Next, tap the Share My Screen button at the top right of the new FaceTime control panel.
How to share music on FaceTime in iOS 15
Similar to Spotify Group Sessions, you can now listen to music together with your friends on FaceTime. Here’s how.
- Open FaceTime and voice-call any of your contacts.
- Now, open Apple Music.
- Select a song and press Play.
This will start playing the same song on both devices. Moreover, you can invite more of your friends and listen to the song together in sync, and everyone on the call will have control over the playback.
How to start a watch party using FaceTime SharePlay
Note: For watching movies or shows together with your friends on FaceTime, you’ll need to have the supported app, and you also need to be subscribed to the streaming service being used during the call.
- First, open the FaceTime app.
- Now, call or share the invite link with your friends.
- Open any supported app, and play whatever you want to watch together.
The movie or TV show will start playing in sync on everyone’s device. You will also be able to chat with each other. In addition, every user on the call will have playback controls.
Note: You can also use your Apple TV to stream the content while chatting with your friends on your iPhone.
Can I use FaceTime SharePlay with Android and Windows?
As of now, SharePlay is exclusive to Apple devices. Sharing screen, music, or streaming content with Android or Windows devices over FaceTime is not possible.
However, you can now FaceTime call your friends on Android or Windows devices using the FaceTime link with the new update.
I hope this guide helped you understand everything about SharePlay and how to use it on your iOS 15 device. What do you think about this feature? And do you want to know more about the new features announced at the WWDC21? Share in the comments below.

My FaceTime and iMessage is activated as I can iMessage and FaceTime other contacts in my phone. There is one contact that has an iPhone and they have their FaceTime and IMessage activated as my daughter can FaceTime/iMessage them. The contact lives in America and I have the right international code and right phone number. I only own an iPad and have no iPhone. I live in Ireland. Also I have tried deleting the contact and entering the contact. Is it possible to fix it as I really want to FaceTime over Christma? Thanks

I Had the same problem with one particular contact and not with the rest of my contacts. I figured out that I was missing the email address for the contact (that email address was also his Apple ID). After I added the email address the option to FaceTime appeared right away.

i had the same issue, i took FJ in A Town advice and it works like magic. .

I have the very same problem with my iPhone 6. I can’t initiate a FaceTime call through the address book (contacts) to one specific contact, but at the same time my wife can with her iPhone 5s. I haven’t figured out how to ultimately fix the problem in a way that the FaceTime option will show up in contacts, but I found a work around that might work for you as well:
1. Delete the phone number in question from the contact (no need to delete the entire contact)
2. Open the FaceTime App and enter the phone number manually, including the country code (e.g. +1 for the US, +44 for the UK, etc.)
3. Tap the phone number that shows where you would normally see the contacts name (if that phone number were still in contacts)
4. A list with call options will open up, where you can tap on FaceTime or FaceTime Audio
It won’t fix the issue of FaceTime not being available through the address book, but it should allow you to make your Christmas FaceTime call.

Apple opened up FaceTime in iOS 15, iPadOS 15, and macOS 12 to be able to video call people on other platforms, including Android. That means you can finally use FaceTime on Windows—kinda. We’ll show you how it works.
Unfortunately, Apple didn’t release a FaceTime app for Windows. Instead, anyone with an iPhone, iPad, or Mac can create invite links that work with Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge on Windows. That means it’s not possible to start a FaceTime call from Windows, but you can join one.
First, you’ll need to make sure that you have Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge installed on your Windows PC.
Next, your friend or family member with an iPhone or iPad needs to open the FaceTime app and then tap the “Create Link” button found at the top of the screen.
They can then share the link with you however they want.
On Mac, as long as they’re running macOS 12 Monterey or newer, they can find the “Create Link” button at the top of the FaceTime app.
Next, they can share the FaceTime link with you using any messaging platform.
You will receive a link to facetime.apple.com that looks something like this:
Open the link in Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge on your Windows PC. Enter your name in the box and click “Continue.”
From there, click “Join” from the floating toolbar found at the bottom of the screen.
The person on the other side of the FaceTime call will need to accept your request before you can join on their iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
Once you’re in, you’ll see options in the toolbar for typical video conference options, such as Full Screen, Mute Microphone, and Show/Hide Video.
That’s pretty much it! This is simply a basic version of a FaceTime call running in your browser. When you’re done, simply click the “Leave” button to hang up.
The quality of FaceTime on the web is really good considering that it’s not a native app. It would be great if you could actually start a FaceTime call from Windows, but this is a good solution for the time being.

When you make FaceTime calls on iPhone and iPad, recipients see your caller ID—an email or phone number. If that caller ID isn’t what they expect, they won’t know who’s calling. Here’s how to change your caller ID.
When you call someone using FaceTime, your caller ID is the email or phone number that appears on their screen. If you have many email addresses associated with your Apple ID, then there’s even more chance that you’re calling people with one they don’t recognize. That could lead to calls going unanswered, or an unexpected email address being shared with someone you don’t want to have it.
Changing the caller ID that is used when you initiate a new FaceTime call is a relatively simple process, and here’s how to go about doing it.
To start, open the Settings app and tap “FaceTime.”
Note that email addresses will only appear if you are signed in with your Apple ID, so make sure you’re signed in and tap the “Use your Apple ID for FaceTime” button if not.
Next, tap the number or email address you want to use as your caller ID under the “Caller ID” section.
And that’s all there is to it. Now, when you start a new FaceTime video or voice call, the phone number or email address you just selected will be the one used as your caller ID which means it will be the one your recipient will see, too.
