The beauty of receiving a Visa gift card is that it gives you the flexibility to use it with any online merchant that accepts Visa debit cards. Depending on how your card was purchased, it may be already activated when you receive it. If not, you’ll have to activate it before you can use it, and if you want to use your Visa gift card online, you”ll also have to register it.
Activate Your Card
A Visa card from a retail outlet is activated at the cash register, and you’ll receive the activation slip. Some Visa gifts cards purchased online need to be activated once you receive them in the mail.
In this case, follow the activation instructions on the little sticker that comes on the front of the card. Typically, this requires you to call an 800 number or access a website to enter the 16-digit card number and associated security code. For additional security, sign the card on the back as soon as you receive it.
Register Your Card
To register your card for online use, locate the issuer’s 800 number or web address. You’ll find this information on the back of the Visa card or in a leaflet that comes with the card. Call the telephone number or access the website to get started.
You’ll need to provide the card code and card security number, as well as your personal information, including your name, address and telephone number. Use the same format for your personal information that you plan to use when making your online purchases. This is important as many payment processors check to verify that the information matches.
Use Your Card Online
At checkout you’ll be given a variety of payment options. This may include PayPal, Amazon or a debit or credit card. You need to select the debit/credit card option and then specifically choose the Visa card for payment. Enter your personal information exactly as you did to register your card and then add the card code and security code.
Make a Partial Payment
Cardholders should always check their Visa gift card balance before making an online purchase. This can be done using the 800 number on the back of the card and following the prompts.
If the total amount on the card is less than the total purchase price, it may be possible for you to use the remainder of your card to buy a store e-gift card. In most cases, this is a code sent to your email inbox. You can then use that egift card code toward your total balance.

Online is your fastest option, even accounting for the step of creating an online account, and should take you just a few minutes. Enroll with your Social Security number and date of birth, and then follow four steps:
- Log in to your online account.
- Look for your new credit card under Accounts.
- Enter your card number, expiration date and CVV/CVC.
- Enter your date of birth and Social Security number, if required by your provider.

Activate your card
It’s important to read the information we include with your credit or debit card before you activate it.
For new credit cards, please make sure you read your Letter of Offer, because by activating your card you accept the terms and conditions.
- If you’re the primary cardholder and haven’t received a Letter of Offer, please give us a call.
- If you’re a secondary cardholder, you’ll need to wait until the primary cardholder for your account has activated their card before you can activate your own card.
For replacement cards, just so you know, your PIN will remain the same. If you have an ANZ PAYCARD or ANZ Rewards PAYCARD, your new PIN will arrive within 5-7 working days.
How to activate your new card in the ANZ App
To activate your new card:
- Log in to the ANZ App
- Tap More on the Accounts screen
- Choose Activate Card and follow the prompts.
You can activate a debit or credit card in the ANZ App by scanning it with your camera or by entering the card number.
You’ll also be able to set your eligible card PIN at the same time. No need to wait for your card PIN in the mail.
How to activate your new card in Internet Banking
To activate your new card:
- Log in to Internet Banking
- Go to the Settings menu
- Select Activate an ANZ card and follow the prompts.
For personal ANZ credit cards, if you’re a primary cardholder and you also wish to activate the cards of all additional cardholders, you can select Activate card(s) for all additional cardholders once the card has been received by the cardholder.

- Avoid using the same PIN across different websites, applications or services, particularity when they relate to different entities.

What cards can I activate online?
Activate an ANZ Card function allows you to activate the following card types:
- ANZ Access Card
- ANZ Access Visa Debit Card

Can I continue to use my current card while I wait for the replacement?
If you’ve ordered a replacement card, you will be able to use your current card (prior to the last day of the expiry month) until you’ve activated your new card.

What is EMV?

This smart chip technology features credit cards with embedded chips that will help increase security and reduce fraud. This standard has many names worldwide and may also be referred to as: “chip and signature.”
Will all merchants be able to accept my EMV (chip) credit card?
Yes. Your card may be used everywhere Visa is accepted.
My spouse and I both have APCO Employees Credit Union credit cards, and I only received one card. Will my spouse receive a card?
Yes. As a security feature, all cards being issued with this conversion will have a unique number and will arrive separately. However, you will continue to receive only one bill, regardless of the number of cards on the account.
What is uChoose Rewards?
uChoose Rewards is a program that earns you points for using your APCO Employees Credit Union credit card. All APCO Employees Credit Union Visa credit cards with rewards are automatically enrolled in the program.
Do I need to register my credit card before I can start earning points?
No, you will start earning points the first time you make a transaction with your new credit card; however, you will need to register your card before you will be able to redeem your points. To register your card, visit uchooserewards.com and click the Register link, or click the eCS and uChoose Rewards link inside of your Credit Union’s online banking.
How do I register my card?
Please visit uchooserewards.com. On the right side, you will see “New to uChoose Rewards?” with a Register link. Click Register, and then enter your card number. How do I start earning points?

It can take up to 40 days for your points to be credited to your account. You must first accumulate 1,500 points before you can redeem them. Your points are available to view on uchooserewards.com.
There you can keep track of the points you’ve earned, and then shop the online rewards catalog when you’re ready to redeem. A Wish List Tracker is also available to notify you when you’ve earned enough points to redeem a specific item.

Did you get an Economic Impact Payment VISA debit card in the mail from the U.S. Department of the Treasury? If you did, you might get a letter from Treasury this week, reminding you to activate your card.
Treasury’s letter gives you instructions on how to activate the card . Once you do that, you can get cash or use it anywhere that accepts VISA debit cards. Or, you can also transfer the money from your EIP debit card to your bank account . This is especially helpful if you can’t or don’t want to visit an ATM.
Did you throw away the card by mistake, or don’t recall getting one? No worries. Your letter from Treasury will tell you how to request a replacement card, which will include calling a 24-hour customer service line at 1.800.240.8100. It’s free to replace your card.

I got a debit card in the mail at my address. But after I opened it, I discovered that it did NOT have my name, but rather some other unknown name (Allen Smith) using my address. How to activate your credit card
If your card already has a PIN
If you’ve been sent a replacement card due to your other card expiring, getting damaged, lost or stolen, and you had a PIN loaded on that card, then your existing PIN will be transferred to your replacement card.
- Use your credit card in a shop by inserting your new card in to the EFTPOS machine and entering your PIN. You’ll now be able to use your card for all types of transactions.
- Log in to internet banking, click on your credit card, then Additional Options and Details, then press Activate next to Card Status. Card activation isn’t available in the mobile app.
You’ll now be able to use your card for all types of transactions except contactless payments. To start making contactless payments, make a purchase in any store, by inserting your new card in to the EFTPOS machine and entering your PIN.
If your card doesn’t have a PIN
If your credit card is brand new, or if you’ve switched from one card type to another e.g. from a Low Rate Visa to an Airpoints Platinum Visa, then the new card won’t come with a PIN.
- Visit your nearest Kiwibank branch with Photo ID to add a PIN to your card. This will fully activate your credit card.
- To activate your card without adding a PIN, you can log in to internet banking, click on your credit card, then Additional Options and Details, then press Activate next to Card Status. Card activation isn’t available in the mobile app.
You’ll be able to use your credit card for shopping online and you can still use your card in shops without a PIN – you’ll just have to sign for the payment rather than entering your PIN. Once you’ve made a purchase in a shop by signing for it, and the transaction is approved, you should then be able to make contactless payments.

You can activate your new credit card over the phone, 7am – 11pm, seven days a week with our easy-to-use Telephone Banking service.
1. I’m not registered for Internet Banking, what are the benefits of this service?

2. How do I register for Internet Banking?
It’s easy to register and takes about 5 minutes to complete.
- Enter your personal details
Name, date of birth, postcode and account details for one of your Lloyds Bank accounts.
- Choose a username and password
You will need access to a phone and we may need to send you an activation code in the post.
- Log on to Internet Banking
Log on using the username and password you’ve chosen.
3. Do I need to activate my replacement card?
You will not need to activate your replacement credit card, unless the sticker on the card asks you to do so.
4. How do I activate an additional card?
The main cardholder must activate any additional card, as the 16 digit credit card account number of the main cardholder is needed. You can activate the additional card online, by calling the number on the credit card sticker or you can pop into your local branch.
5. Do I need to activate my credit card before I can use it online?
Yes, for security purposes you need to activate your credit card before you can use it.
6. Can I personalise my PIN number?
Its easy to change your PIN to a number you already know – a memorable date, for instance. You can change your PIN at most UK cash machines. Just insert your card and using the PIN we’ve sent you, follow the on-screen instructions.
7. I’ve forgotten my PIN number?
If you’ve forgotten your PIN, you can get an instant reminder using our Mobile Banking app.
If you don’t have the app, you can find out how to download it here. If you’d prefer a paper reminder, you can request a PIN reminder which will be sent through the post. You’ll receive your reminder by post in 3-5 working days.
